Hey what’s going on just bought a black 2004 RC. I am a 24 year old male from southern IL, but i work overseas right now. On my last leave i decided to buy a Ram SRT 10. I looked around online and found a nice one in Indianapolis, 6,300 miles on it, for $26,000. Not to many people want them with gas prices so high, but its a nice new toy. It is almost as fast as the 1997 Firehawk i just got rid of. I think i want to get it a little faster but i don’t want to mod it to much. What would be some good modification to get an extra 50-100 hp?

Welcome to the RBC!!!!

You will learn lots here, visit often!!!

Almost as fast as the firehawk?? well you gotta learn how to drive the truck .. you should have no problem puttin a firehawk away

I think next time i come home i might do the computer flash and Volant Intake System. The Firehawk only had 315 hp, but it also only weighed 3400lbs.

I've installed the cold air intake, catchcan, 170* thermostat and will program my PCM Tuesday. Cat deletes to follow.
I'm planning on having my 05QC quicker to 60 than my 99RATA by the end of next week. (and at least through 3rd gear) I've had mine a little over a month and I'm still amazed at the power. In a straight line, I think it WILL take the TA after the PCM flash...       I'm a Pontiac/LS1 guy but this is taking me back to Mopar!!!:D :D :D :D :D The TA vert is my lover, the Viper is the fighter (and grocery getter too):burnout:

yeah a flash, cold air intake, and delet the cats is nice place to start but trust me it wont end there. there is soo much stuff out there now. Its nice to finaly have a choice in aftermzrket mods for these trucks, you will find any vendor you go to here will be help full.

Cat delete, magnaflow catback, and a computer flash.
Since you've got an '04, it's equipped with 4.10 gears. So toss in a set of 4.56's or 4.88's in with the above mods, and you will have a solid 12 second ride.

Welcome Bud!

I would avoid the computer flash. The flash is wonderful for the QC's but not much value to the RC.

While the CAI will improve the bling and the sound, there is not much to be gained in HP via that route.

The exhaust improvements mentioned above are helpful...but if you are going to maximize the exhaust benefits...long tube headers, cat delete, three inch diameter all the way out with a Magnaflow (has a two and a half inch restriction).

You will be dissatisfied with the Hurst shifter. Going into third is problematic in most of these trucks. Gary Virgin at (www.X-Metal.com) has a solution, the Gen X shifter.

Once you have the shifter, you will no doubt be looking for a clutch because your stock one is probably going to go south rapidly. Most of us have gone to the CenterForce clutch, and importantly, you also need to upgrade the slave and master cylinders, to the Viper models...the OEM ones on the truck are plastic and do not put up with much abuse.

As far as looks go...you will probably want to drop the truck two inches in the back and one inch in the front...you will be able to trust the vendors on this site...Roe, X-Metal, DC Performance, JMB and the others are outstanding people and they will help in every way they can.

After these basic changes you will then need to plan. Your ultimate destination will be the first decision you will need to make...but you have time.

There will be lots of help available here...and lots of different opinions too.

Come often, contribute and enjoy...Welcome to the family!

prof, not to get into another debate on LT headers or not the cost of the LT headers is on par with a full blown nx system. cost of LT headers 1600, cat back 800 and you gain about 26hp . granted its all over the hp and tq band but 2400 dollars for 26 to 30 hp. He would be better off with cat delet, magnaflow mufflers, and a NX express kit for 1500 and gain 120hp. You know as well as I do that LT really arent going to bennifit you unless you have a fully built motor or forced induction, stock manifolds will support up to 550 hp and concidering the trucks have 440 to the wheels thats money he doesent have to spend.

While I generally agree with you, my approach is to avoid purchasing things that will have to go away in the future, or adding to systems that have been previously worked...

So from my perspective, the long tube headers are a small expense if done on the front end so that the exhaust part of the system is ready for whatever the future plans turn out to be. It is the same with the CAI in my mind...if you are ever going to consider forced induction the CAI would be a mod that would probably be a side step and would have to go away.

I guess the best guidance is to "begin with the end in mind."

If you know where you want to end up, the decisions in process are clear. If you don't know what you want as the final product, I opt for "never having to go back."

only reasion i suggested that rout is he previously stated that he did not want to go crazy with the mods but wanted alittle more performance, was just trying to get him where he wanted to be with out spending the loot that we did. but you are completly right in that you need to figure out where you want to be in the end when all your mods are done.
