New PB in the CTS V

Heard Jose ran a pretty good time using your truck wheels?

He borrowed my front wheels only, as he doesn't have the shaved calipers in the back yet. He also borrowed my race seat (he took out the stock seats), and ran without the tailgate. In all he saved about 290 lbs. He ran a 12.495 @109+. He was really happy. The next day (yesterday) he was back with his full interior in, and a passenger....and ran 13.12....what can I say!

What tune? Your trap speed is off by at least 3 mph.

What do you mean? How is 118.85 or 118.96 off by 3 mph. This car has never been close to 122 mph with stock pulleys, stock exhaust, only an air box and a tune. Best speed before on street tires was 118.91. So as far as I can tell, I'm spot on. Previous best on street tires was May 18, 2013 at 11:51 pm (near midnight), temp was 66 degrees and the DA was 1250', that run on street tires was 12.240 @ 118.91 with a 2.055 60', 1/8th mile was 8.07 @ 93.16. My new record yesterday (Nov.3,2013) was at 1:47 pm (afternoon), the temp was 64 degrees, the DA was 1208' and on drag radials the run was 11.855 @ 118.85 with a 1.86 60', 1/8th mile was 7.704 @ 93.91. Seems pretty consistent to me.

I think he was implying that others have regularly seen traps amps faster than yours? Hopefully he will come back on and clarify.

Yeah, if they have far more mods and even pulleys, they can be much faster, but on all the Cadillac forums, I don't think anybody with just a tune and airbox or pure stock has gone faster than 119, so I'm right there at the top.

DR's help the ET not the trap speed. Manual traps higher than auto. I had an auto. This run was with cai and canned tune.

Found my other slip. This was cai and tb only.

This was a 2012 during the same day with axle back only. 1st slip shows trapping 119 mph.

2nd and 3rd slip are right in line what I did bone stock (below).

I just checked the DA from your best time slip ([email protected]) , clearly shows ATCO raceway on Nov.25,2011 @ 3 pm, so according to Drag Times DA Calculator, the temp was 41 degrees and the DA was -1471' (yes minus 1417 feet). So you ran 120.39 in minus 1400' DA and I ran 118.96 in +1250' DA for a difference of 1.43 mph......not quite 3 mph....and don't you think the DA might have some effect....by being 2,650' different? One other interesting fact.....from your time slips....your pure stock time slip is dated Oct. 16, 2012....and your modified 11.75 Time slip is dated a year earlier on Nov.25, 2011....something doesn't add up or you're in a time machine.

Hey Caveman...do you think this guy could be Stewart?

The DA, that's wrong. It was -100'. Checking the DA Calc they don't even list anything after 10:54am, so maybe you put in the wrong date and time.

And I did get another V in 2012, but it was modded, never ran it stock. 4019 and 4506 were my numbers. The other slips were other V's I met at the track since you said none have gone faster than 119 mph.

You're right , it was 3AM, my mistake, but still you had negative DA so barely more than 1 MPH faster than me is not 3 mph. And the other four or five slips (118.8, 119.2,115,116,118.9)all pretty much 119 and below.....like I said. Hey you're great. I'm happy with the performance of my car, minimal mods, stick shift. The automatics have a real advantage over the manuals in 1st gear (Auto 4.03x 3.23=13.0169 overall vs manual 2.66 x 3.73= 9.9218) and pretty even by 4th gear (Auto 1.15x 3.23=3.7145 vs Manual 1.00x 3.73=3.73). So with my 11.85 I'm right there with them. In fact you only showed one time slip quicker than mine and that with negative DA (-100). I think I'm right there, so no complaints about my tune. And you still didn't show me where you got that I was off by 3 mph. Enjoy your evening, I'm going to the gym.

Oh , and your Oct. 16,2012 slip at 11pm was Minus 990' (-990') and your speed was 118.9 with almost 2100' difference in DA. I think at ATCO this time of year I could do pretty well. I'm on the SVTPerformance forum and those Shelby guys love ATCO, all the records are set there. Good for you to be able to run there.

You don't think a manual should trap more than an auto? Honestly, I don't give a crap what you do. I don't even have the V anymore. I'd double check the tune or log the KNK. Just letting you know, because you should be trapping higher, and there is more left on the table.

When you start to use profanity, we're done. Sorry but I don't use that type of language.

I have no idea how to communicate without the use of profanity. :D

Very classy. As an wannabe racing authority and aspiring bench racer, I appreciate how consistent and detailed you are with your results, Trainman. I do have to say though, that even though it's good to see you doing well with the V, what I really want to see is a 10 second pass in your '10! :burnout: :D
