In my efforts to find traction for these trucks and clean up the engine compartments, I designed this rear mounted battery kit. It includes a powdercoated and welded steel tray that mounts behind the passengers side wheel well. You do not have to remove your spare or take up space in the bed, and its very easy to access still (I'll take some installed pics this weekend). The tray accepts the stock battery or aftermarket batteries like the Odyssey pictured or an Optima. It has a very secure mounting system for the battery (mimics the stock system basically), you can literally turn it upside down and it wont budge. The tray is through bolted to the frame, so its very secure as well, you can shake the whole truck by grabbing the tray. It requires drilling three holes in your frame to install, and then a hole for the ground strap. All cables are included with terminal covers, all the hardware, clamps, etc., its a full package. An easy way to transfer 50+ lbs from the fron to the back, perfect for drag racers and road racers. Price will be $160 for the package and you can add the Odyssey Drycell PC 1500 for an additional $230. Heres the specs on the battery, its much better alternative the Optimas IMO:
Group 74/38 dual terminals
1500 CA
825 CCA
125 minute reserve capacity
49 #'s
Drycell deep cycle
3 year full replacement warranty

More crank amps, more cold crank amps, and a 3X longer warranty. I have smaller batteries for people wanting to take some weight off of the truck and still have great battery performance (Im an Odyssey Batteries Dealer)

Dang, Justin you are going to have to slow down a little bit. My check book can't keep up with your product development. We'll have to talk about this mod once my cam/heads are done. :)

Justin I don't think you ever sleep. I wish I had half of your energy. The battery set up looks Awesome!!!!

I ran the cable on mine through the drivers side frame rail (with grommets in existing factory holes) using a fish tape. It worked out great and I only had to clamp it along a rear crossmember to go from the passengers side to the drivers side. It came out right at the starter.

The stock wiring stays the same in the engine compartment except I removed the battery terminals from the wires, and connected the positive cable to the fusebox. I removed the battery box on the drivers side, but it is a time consuming job and requires a few changes to some stuff. I'll put up some pictures of my bracket I made when its powdercoated and installed.

Engine compartment pics of the bracket I made. The bracket is not included or needed to install the kit, but if people are wanting them, then I'll fab them up. Four things are mounted to the factory battery tray, so its a chore to remove it. You can also see how I ran the factory positive line to the fuse box, and kept the negatives together.

Ok so how much for this kit WITH the nice clean looking bracket for the engine compartment ? ?

The engine compartment bracket would be $55 extra in black wrinkle powdercoat.

Hey Justin,
I like the idea behind this kit but how do you perform a jumpstart in case the battery is dead?

The fuse box has the positive lug on it, just run one line to a ground or the engine block, and the other line to the terminal on your fuse box (just like a viper basically). You can always crawl underneath to the battery, but its not necessary.

I bought one.....

Very good looking mod, well thought out and implemented. I will look forward to mine getting here.

Now think to make a setup that would leave the original battery in place and add 2 more batteries on both the drivers and passengers rear wheel well. Add an upgraded high output alternater and we audio buffs will be in heaven. I've been looking for a way to bring my amps close to the power source.

Battery Tray/box

I recieved the battery tray/holder and hardware and it is very high quality and well designed.

I will try and get it on in the next few weeks.

I have to do a few things first.....;) .........;) ............;)
