Okay so by now it should be well known that a new strict nationwide law that will mandate the use of car/booster seats during the transportation of precious cargo less than 8 years of age will take effect in about a month or so. Has everyone here that this applies to began shopping for a sporty car seat to put in their rides?:dontknow:

I already have 2 car seats in mine. And if you drive next to me and your kids are not in seats I will call the police and follow you until you are pulled over. I feel very strongly about kids being in car seats.

My youngest is 19......

And she still has to wear her seatbelt

I have 2 car seats in my backseats right now. I'm not to happy about that, they belong in my wifes car.

My son, Paul doesn't need his car seat starting this year......

He'll turn 40.............:D ;) :p

Just doing my part. My wife and I actually thought about starting some type of watchdog group that just drives around and looks for kids that are not in car seats. Then they would call the cops. Well that is one thing we would like to do when we retire. We also want to get customer service jobs and see how many we can get fired from.

I have the GRACO installed in mine. My little girl is only 2. I have many years to go, but you better believe she does not ride without her seat and belt. No seat no ride. Daycare has seats, Grandma has a seat, The Ex has a seat, and so do I.

Just to be safe, since I don't have any kids, I don't let any of them ride with me in my Viper.:p :D

I rode all the way to Florida and back from Ohio.... TWICE.... in the back WINDOW. Between ages 8 and 12. :dontknow:

Hell, I was STEERING a car, at age 10, all the way to the "store" and back... on my Mom's lap.

Car-seats are for PUSSY's. :D

I feel very strongly about people minding their own business ;) :D

Understand where you are coming from, but if they aren't your kids, they aren't your responsibility and therefore not your concern.I understand that they don't have the reasoning to decide whether to buckle up or not and it must be done for them.BUT,I don't think we need people driving around looking for things to cal the police about.I rode (and my parents and grand-parents and all my family) in vehicles without car seats or seat belts and not one of us was ever hurt.

Havent read the law yet, but I hope there is height and weight limits attached.

At his current rate, my son will probably be 5' 9" and 150 when he's 8 :D

AH REMEMBER THE DAYS WELL.USED TO STRETCH OUT IN BACK OF
MOMMAS LTD.CRUISED FROM WASH D.C. TO FLORIDA THAT WAY.
TODAY YOU WOULD GET THROWN IN JAIL FOR THAT.

I feel strongly about it because the kids don't have a choice. But where do you draw the line? Would you call the police on a drunk driver? What about a mom with a 2 year old sitting in her lap? You have to think about at what level would you stop minding your own business? That line for you may be different for me. If I'm in a state that has a helmet law and some guys is not wearing his. I don't care. But put a baby in your lap with his head right next to the airbag and I care. Speeding, driving a little erratic. I won't call unless I think you are drunk or ran me off the road or something. I also get pissed when people leave their kids in the car while they go shopping or to work. I'm not talking about going into the gas station. I'm talking about going into the mall. So if I minded my own business then should I just walk by and hope that kid doesn't die. I see that same act of stupidity when I view someone with a rear facing car seat in the front seat with airbags or not in car seats. The parent of a child puts their kid in danger by doing both of those. And I just can't stand by and watch it happen.

Also most people don't know but to ride forward facing the baby must be 1 year old AND 20 lbs. Most just flip them around once they get to 20 because they don't want to buy a new car seat.

Do you have a link to this new nationwide law? When I Google it, it breaks it down by state.

Bunch of panzies... I remember the days of riding in the bed of the truck or in the passenger seat of my dads truck, no seat belt nothin' He'd hold his arm out if he had to stop abruptly. Survival of the fittest damnit! lol
