I have mine tinted here in FL but I went with LEDs so they would shine through brightly. I think it all depends on how bored your law enforcers are. But to answer your question, I do believe they are illegal.

I hope johnny law is bored or at least likes them so much that he doesn't remember how to write a ticket----I like them a lot and may just do it anyway......

I only applied one coat of the smoke and they are not very dark at all, they show up very well in the day time and at night they just look like the images were etched in the lense.

When in the sun, you can still see they are red and so far no problems, I had a LA County sheriff behind me today and nothing. But he could have been heading to Dunkin Donuts.
