For the first time in 9 months...Yes.;):nurse:

Kevan...I would rather go shopping for Shoes with my wife than continue watching you shop for watches.:dontknow::p

It really depends on what he wants, fellas... :dontknow:  ....

If he is still shopping for a TIMEX, then he is a complete IDIOT..... If he's got a set of specs in mind that he requires.... AND IS WILLING TO PAY FOR THEM... then he is ECCENTRIC.... :D

You can get anything in the WORLD, that you REQUIRE. ;) It just depends on the MONEY involved. :) ..................

I want a 1999 Dodge Viper GTS w/ 1200 miles... Sapphire Blue w/ Cognac Leather int.... and a ROE Supercharger.... For $36,000.... :dontknow:  Any leads??? ........... :D :p  :elefant:

FOR INSTANCE.... The Breitling "EMERGENCY" watch....

This one monitors your heart rate, determines GPS location, reads time, and will CALL YOUR VOICE MAIL. if you are in trouble. :dontknow:   All for the low-low price of $3000. It's the watch that will SAVE YOUR LIFE. :) ;)

It utilizes "The Skyaid".... The nonprofit organization is creating a wristwatch that can be used to call for help for: sudden cardiac arrest, heart attack, stroke, house fire, auto accident, gunshot wound, crime in progress, etc. :D

That Gun shot feature could have come in handy......:D

Wow.
I get a bunch of work done, do *ANOTHER* DIY article, nab a couple of hours of zzz's....and come back to find 10 pages of flat-out whoring.
Thanks everyone!

Jake- the nightlight thing is pretty important. I often find myself in the dark (bring on the jokes).

Also, just so you know: The Tissot watches have a proprietary band.
You can replace it, but only with one of their bands.

Thanks for passing along your expertise and knowledge. I really do appreciate it.

TANGENT: I was tooling around some uber-geek sites last night and came across a couple of cellphone watches! The newest one everyone is raving about is made- by all people- Hyundai!
There are some pretty cool ones out there now. I can't wait until they get them under 500g (about 1 pound). :)

BTW- I got the email from Timex today. Full refund. :)

Not yet.
So far, the Ironman and the Tissot are winning though.

If I could change bands, I'd hae a Tissot on my wrist right now.

It would be very interesting to recreate the process that Kevan used to make his decision in favor of the SRT 10...

I'm sure you've looked at Tissot's options on bands.... It's surprising they don't have any good options. (I am actually pretty shocked that they have proprietary bands to begin with....)

I called Tissot's customer service. They said that the bands on the T-Touch models were STANDARD SIZE, REPLACEABLE bands/straps/bracelets... They vary in size, depending on model (between 18-21mm).

Oddly enough, it wasn't that difficult:
- Should be a Dodge (this is my 5th Mopar vehicle).
- Should be able to haul all my gear. ALL of it.
- Should be faster and handle better than my Durango.
- Should be black.

Pretty simple, eh? :D

It did, however, take me almost 2 years to find the right one.
But that was more price and availability than anything.

I don't think they've actually seen the watches. :D
The bands are proprietary. You can even see it in the pics, or the video that guy posted.

Ironically, the band that I have on now (and absolutely love) is a Swatch. :)

It was the repair department that I was connected with... I think they may have seen a few.

The case lugs (the tabs coming off the case that hold the band on) DO wrap around the top and sides of the band.... yes. (As shown, below)

That doesn't mean the band itself isn't replaceable. ;) If it is held in by pins, it is replaceable. :) You just have to find the right size band (they are measured in millimeters). There are literally dozens of great band/strap/bracelet companies out there.

I am curious tho... What didn't you like about the bracelet on the Tissot? The one I noted earlier (with the titanium bracelet) is VERY close to the same design as my TAG... and it is extremely comfortable. There are no pressure points that I can feel on mine (and the way my computer sits on my desk, my wrist sits on the desk all day while typing.... no issues). :dontknow:

Jake- I'll do some circling and picture-taking tonight.
That should help make things clearer.

Let me try to clear up a little confusion here:
Yes- you can replace the watch band on the Tissot....BUT...it has to be replaced with a Tissot band.
Yes- it has pins, but those pins are for replacing/installing a Tissot band.
No- you can not replace it with a band like this:
SSCN6272.JPG

(Relax, Jake. It's just an example.)

I understand how watch bands attach (I've been doing it a long time too). I even modified this Swatch band to fit the G-Shock pins.
The Tissot has a pin that holds the band onto the watch body. It basically runs along the same line as the blue bar in this pic:
TissotBLUEbar.jpg

Here's the problem with the Tissot and trying to use non-Tissot bands:

You can REPLACE them with Tissot metal or rubber bands, but I don't think you can use non-Tissot bands.

This might freak you out a little.
The stainless steel on this current band is actually worn down on some of the face edges. I can also show you the spot on my desk where the silver is embedded into the formica top. I wish I was kidding.

I need a flush-latching band. The latch needs to be the same thickness as the band. Here are some shots of the current band:
CLOSED:
P1030517.jpg

(check out the angled wear on the dome section of that first link!)

OPEN:
P1030523.jpg

(sorry- the camera flash is freaking out on me lately)

The "fold over clasp w/side buttons" won't work. Those buttons *will* get tapped and the watch will slip off my wrist. I've tried those before. They either get deformed or I break them.

The current watch band is 2.0mm thick.
I'd like to keep the new one as close to that as possible.

Insane yet?
:D
