Well I just installed my stage II upgrade traction kit from JMB with high hopes of better traction. It might have helped from a role, but from a dead stop it still spins like a sumbitch in 1st, second, and a little in 3rd. I preset it to number 10 setting which should be 2 over stock. It didn't hurt my traction, but I don't think it helped much either. Has anyone else installed the kit, if so how did it do for you. Should I try a different setting?

You have 4.56 gears, probably 500+rwtq and are running street tires I assume. No amount of traction suspension is gonna help on the street. Put slicks on it at the track to see the true difference, then you'll be able to appreciate it.

Dropping the tire pressure helps a little, but I guess I was just hoping for a miracle.

I know slicks would help at the track, but I race alot more often at the local airport where I work. I find victims in town and go to the airport and run on the runway. I usually don't have time to switch tires. And I don't want to shave my calipers.

DO NOT take your air pressure below 23 lbs. I found out the hard way these tires don't grip below 23 lbs.

Bill.

what about a cal-trac from x-metal, i heard it are really help alot? what do u think?

I like the looks of the caltracs. Can anyone that actually has them on their truck tell me if they really help. Are they worth the cost?

It seems like this thing spins more everytime I run it.

the calverts work bro, and well, get the shocks from JBM he is a kick ass vendor, the shocks are awweseome

call calvert direct , get them from him, they are not listed, but he has them, and for $339 direct

http://www.calvertracing.com/

x-metal have same design of caltrac with the calverts. i think it is same products, maybe i am wrong

I just ordered the leaf clamps and going to put them on and later going with the shocks just for a lil added traction. I know it won't hook up like my 68 Camaro SS I had but still it will improve what is already there. Wildman what rpm are you launching your truck at? That can be a factor too. I try to launch about 3200 Rpms and it seems to hook up the best at that rpm.

I noticed alot of these guys say get slicks. Keep in mind more traction means easier to break stuff.

Nothing is going to make a vehicle with 65% of the weight over the front tires, 525 TQ and 40 series 22" rubber, hook on a 40 degree street, period. All you can do is plant the most possible, and learn to drive for the conditions. My truck with the same stuff as yours and all the shocks set on drag race settings will dead hook on a 60 degree+ concrete street, but it requires alot of stuff to do it (and learning to launch without being too aggressive). On a 30 degree street, I can roll it out and mash it and its stupid, not stock stupid, but not alot better. Once your tires have the momentum to spin, its going to be hard to make them stop. Take it to the track for a sticky concrete surface in 70 degree weather and youll be impressed over stock, I promise. You just cant stick all that torque on these tires with a truck in cold weather, there are too many things working against you.
Thanks Wade,
Justin

I would agree. Nothing is gonna work all the time. For the cost, I think its a great upgrade.

Justin, can you post a pic of the track only snubbers that come with stage 2?

thanks patrick

I am by no means butchering the product. I have raced all my adult life and know that this mod should be helping. These trucks are going to have traction problems on stock tires reguardless of upgrades. Justin has been great answering all my questions very quickly. I just expect to much of things I guess. I ran 13.2 last year at the track before several mods, and was spinning bad. If I can be in the 12's next month i will be happy. I will let everyone know how it goes at the track.

Thanks alot Justin, I will probably try the bed mounted battery kit next. That much extra weight on it's ass may help alittle more.

With your mods Wade, your in the 12's you just need the right air and a somewhat preped track, and just bang those gears:rock:

Wildman...If you can wait a few weeks I will be testing Justin's QA1's at the track....weight transfer.... ....and since they are adjustables....click click and go....I have very consistent 60's so we will know something shortly...

I meant to mention this too.

I have had stage one on my truck now for a week. My observations as well as my GF's are that with everyday driving the truck feels less harsh over our bumpy roads. Even going over speed bumps it feels better. If I didnt know better I would say I had different shocks on the truck now..............that big round spacer deal really cuts down on the bounce is my guess. Maybe Justin can elaborate.

That sounds great. If those QA1's work all around I will be calling justin too.
