Oh no, they're going to end existence hehehe

The amount of new science data that will be generated per second when the kinks are worked out, is just staggering...something like a cd rom ever minute of previously unknown data.

My scientist spouse attempted to explain in simple terms the value of the experiment...then stopped and said that all I really needed to know was that there was going to be more new data generated by this experiment than all of the existing data combined...and that will happen every day after they get it fine tuned.

To me that was impressive.

I read in the Pop Sci that showed up yesterday, according to two MIT grads working on the project, that it would create as much information as was currently contained in the world wide web, DAILY.

The amount of data would fill every hard drive on Earth, in a single day!

The show on History is on again on the 29th I think. It is called "The Next Big Bang". Do yourselves a favor and watch this show. It is informative and entertaining. One of the physicists on the show is a total kick in the ass hehe.

I have seen it twice so far, and won't be deleting it from the tivo just yet. One of the things that really blew me away was when they explained just how difficult it is to get these particles to collide. They said it was more difficult than it would be to get two bullets to hit each other in flight, if one was fired from the Earth and the other from the Moon!

I'm telling you, don't miss this show.

Have any of you read the world war 2.1 trillogies?

In world war 2.1 weapons of choice, a super colider built in a over sized supper tanker accidently takes a battle group back to ww2 right before the battle of midway!

It is one of the best sci fi books I've ever read. I do recommend reading them in order as I read the second on first, and now I'm on the first one :)

Two month could be a life time.

That depends on your perspective, or more to the point, the speed at which you are moving compared with everyone else.;)

Those guys will be heading down to Radio Shack this week. They'll have it up and running in no time.

Two months is a pimple on the ass of a gorilla:) I just think it is a shame. The general public has been hyped up on this and most don't understand the set backs, and the monumental task these people are undertaking. I for one am disappointed but understand the complexity of this task. In the long run it will be a great value to all. In the short term skeptics will be able to harp on the massive amount of money spent on this endeavor....
