Since there is always interest about motor oil (which one to use, how often does it need to be changed, etc), I found this company from an article that was talking about how every 3000 miles might be too early.
Blackstone Laboratories in Fort Wayne, Ind. (http://www.blackstone-labs.com/) will send you a free analysis kit and for $25 they will analyze it, and according to your driving habits, suggest when the oil needs to be changed. Check it out!

I might just do it to see. They have a big price list for testing alot more that's not included for $25

oil analysis is how i brouhgt my change intervals to 4500 miles.

10-4 there good buddy on the Cat house. ya can either mail them in or run back by & give it to them.

run several samples & get a dam good idea on whats goin on inside your engine. head off any major probs.

its suggested that a "live" sample is best. but i just run mine a few min. & take a sample from the drain. MAKE SURE THE DRAIN AREA IS REAL CLEAN. the analysis is real touchy.

yeah but you better explain to them what a live sample is:D

they may go killin rabbits:aetsch: :itsme:

the thing I like about the cat house is they are very very detailed , quick, and usually one of the best you can find around

but also, too, after y ou get your analysis back , are or is anyone gonna understand what it says or means?

a "live sample" is taken from a runnin engine. they have a little valve that goes in an oil galley or a supply line to an accessory, whichever is most accessible.

as far as readin the sample results, the Cat reports will throw a flag if something is out of range for whatever metals or fluids the test shows up.

sample report attached. its from Blackie, Reds are down at the shop, i hope
