Ok so today I changed my oil, after changing I put in the required 10q. What freaks me out is when filling the 5.1q containers I didn't fill either more than 3/4 the way. I am very particular I have checked my oil in the truck on several occasion only noticed it low once and added a quart which evened out. But the fact that I couldn't fill two 5.1q damn. Also now I noticed its a whole lot quieter. I hope she's ok

So you're saying the it had ~7.65 quarts in it?
Obviously some won't drain out but to be almost 2.5 quarts short...
You might want to check it a little more often.

Yessir, imagine the trail of oil still sitting primed in the pump, in your oil lines, valve cover area, oil cooler, and what doesn't drain from pan :)
There's your 1 1/2 quarts :)

Chrysler says that 1 quart of oil burned for every 1,000 miles is normal. For example if your oil change interval is every 3,000 miles, you will burn 3 quarts and still be considered normal.

10 qts.????

calls for 8.5 qts w/filter.

i put 9 qts & she burns the half qt. off pretty quick & sits on the full mark till bout 3,000 miles. then its time to add a qt.

I don't even know how to check my oil:dontknow: think I changed it about a year ago thought, still has oil pressure so it's good to go:rock:

If your oil level is fine now and was fine the last time you checked it before the change I wouldn't worry about how much you drained out, also remember that you dumped out the oil filter but a significant amount of oil would still be soaked into the filter media itself.

I don't even check my oil level. to some degree when you check things too much, you freak out when there's the slightest change. I usually check my engine bay once a week and look for signs of leaks and things like that from all of my fluids. I also always park in the same parking spot at my apartment and just pay attention to the ground for signs of seepage and such. And I just make sure I change my oil on time when I hit my mileage limit. 122k miles and doing fine so far.

Where is the best place to get a new oil filter for an 06 SRT10? I want to change the oil on my new truck... Can I get an oil filter from the local parts store like a Mobil 1 filter or a royal purple oil filter or what?

You can pick up a K&N at a local pep boys etc or order one from one of the vendors.

No worries, Bro. You could easily have that much residual in the system and in the paper media in the filter.

+1 on the white Mopar filter. Contact VPRPWRD and he will get you what you need.
