Ok my trusty muffler guy will delete cats, but warns me beforehand?? need to be 100%!

Ok my trusty muffler guy will remove my cats as a side job (for obvious reasons) but warns that he had a guy do it a few weeks back on a totally different car, and just came back to put the factory cats on. So my question is by deleting all cats isn't that basically the same thing as buying a catless midpipe on the interent? Also this will not throw any codes, if I properly install the mech. sims for the o2 sensors (which I read is neccessary when removing front cats)...I want to be a 100% and hear from some of you who have deleted the cats and your experiences....and wether it is worth it to have them removed for $200?

find some other muffler shop that will do it cheaper good grief

I say go to a different muffler place. 200 is F%$Kin ridiculous! Cost me 65 bucks and MAKE SURE YOU ASK FOR THE CATS BACK!!! They have Platinum in them and are worth a couple of hundred bucks at a scrap yard!

If you don't know do the back two and see, it gets loud once you take them out. Maybe do high flows on the front if you are concerned about noise. $200 is crazy unless they are making you 3" catless ones from scratch.

It shouldn't be overly loud since I still have stock set-up with muffler chamber...right? I'm not looking for race car loud...mainly doing it for a little extra HP gain and MPG!!!!

It's only loud when you go to open her up (WOT)...

It is high unless he's also fabricating the pipe and welding it all nicely into place for you... If so, they usually do the bungs for the O2 sensors and have to do about 3 mandrel bends on each side.... It's not a slam bang deal...

If he's doing all that and including the all the new pipe, $200 isn't that bad.

Just like the guys said in previous replies... "Take the cats you remove with you!!!!" And yes I agree with everyone else, 200 is waaaayyy to steep for only removing your cats... Find another shop, just remember to keep your cats, you can sell them at your local scrap yard for decent cash!!!! If not he will and add that to what you paid him for removing them and he will have a pretty good day, just on you... I have the back 2 removed and full 3" all the way with race series muffs and it woke it up... Also get rid of the resonator too...

There is a easy fix for the Cat no Cat exhaust...i bought six three bolt flanges at $4 each, welded 2 of them on the downstream side of the Cats, the other 4 get welded on the catless mid pipes. I can now bolt-up (no welding) either system in 20 minutes.

Cats are only good for Chinese restaurants :rofl: . I would just buy some catless mids from JMB. For roughly $175 more than what that guy was going to charge, you can swap out your mids in your driveway in about an hour and still have the stockers to put back on if needed.
