Okay. I have $11,000.00 for mods. Suggestions?

Why is no one talking NOS? Honestly?

On a limited budget, it seems a practical approach, without much risk, if done well, and managed properly...

Teach me if I am way off base...

Nos is good but only for the track...Can't really run it on the street.....

I didn't like the performance of the truck stock...I enjoy the daily power of 680+ rwhp....

Nos is good on the street, just dont run a big shot. And when i can get away with running my slicks on the street that helps also.

Why don't you just wait a few more months and save up a few more thousand dollars, then just get the paxton, tune and tranny. Boom! Your done!

Well....legal then................

I say dicth your headers , sell them on ebay, buy mopar headers, buy the paxton kit , install it yourself or a good shop. Drive your truck out to Boomer let him tune it. From Va maybe 10 hour drive, not to bad. Or Underground even better, but 5 hours vs 10 hours, i go the extra 5 to have Boomer do it.

Bam ya done, besides your tranny,, but way i look at it, dont fix it if it aint broken yet. Going with heads and cam is frist choice but after thinking about it, everything else on your bottom end isnt forged. Run the hell out of the paxton when you blow your motor, then add the internals, put the paxton back on and blam you got a scary ride.

I dont mean to hijack but when you said underground is looking for a doner truck. . . do you mean underground in charlotte, NC? Im in SC so if they are looking i would love to supply it!!

Thanks

I drive my vehicle everyday. I love power, but not at the cost of reliabilty. Also, I would like it to be comaptible with my current mods.

I was thinking of the Paxton and a tranny build. Unfortunately the Paxton mounting location has to change so the Bassani can stay.

So, either I wait for the Roe twin screw; get rid of the Bassani; or say screw it and get the Stryker Heads and Cam.

I know the tranny is a must if I am going to that level of power. Suggestions?

Ok, since I've met you and you seem like a great guy, here is what you do with your 11 thou... Keep your truck just the way it is and mod the hell out of mine!:D That way you don't have to worry about what to spend it on and then worry about the reliability and all that. I'd be happy to oblige you...:)

Realistically, everyone has put up some great ideas here. I like the N/A rout as well. Reliable mods, easy to do, and will yield you some power. While I would love a paxton kit, once you get the kit and the tune and the tranny if you need it, there goes all your fun money.

But you could always just send it to me...

I believe that the Bassani's are expendable and I vote to add the Paxton.

As a modder, I am as conservative as anyone. I want power (I should be speaking viss a Cherman agzent) but not at the cost of longevity. Get the Paxton and go back to the OEM exhaust manifold... That is, unless someone has solved the problems that Dan Cragin says are inherent to having headers with the blower.

The Paxton is like night and day powerwise.... If not for the Paxton I would never have been happy with the power my truck is making....

Power = seat of the pants acceleration = fun = enjoyment.......end of story.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

what about one of those rear mounted turbo kits

I dunno but some may say to just purchase an SRT-4 and keep it stored in your truck bed. Just a suggestion.:dontknow:

11,000 would be a good down payment on a Prius !!

I would go the N/A route....if you have to go the S/C route then I would drive to Boomer's or down to Roe and have it installed and tuned. I am sure they can work with your budget and come up with a solution that comes pretty close.

Would still bet with a new tranny you are looking at $13000

N/A

Heads+cam+gaskets+labor=$8500

Tranny + labor= $4500

Vec2=$995

If you get the Stryker heads and cam installed, then purchase a Vec2... I will install the Vec2 and tune it for beer ;)

So you are at looking at $14,000 + my beer = $20000 :D

If $11,000 is your hard limit then I dont think you can do either route the right way. Therefore.....

I would buy a new tranny

$4500

a spare set of rear calipers and shave them down....

$300

rims and slicks....

$1500

Caltracs

$300

Then stash the remaining $4500 away and save up another $4500 and by then you have decided to either S/C or Heads/Cam package....
