Old school drag racing

Excellent!!!!:congrats: :congrats: :congrats: :congrats: :congrats: :congrats: :congrats:

Sure brought back memories for me. In the very early '60's it was school and study all week, frat parties on Friday and Saturday nights, but every Sunday was Green Valley Raceway between Dallas and Fort Worth.

Then a few years across the pond, and to pay me back the Army made me the project officer for Don "The Snake" Prudhomme, and our Army funny car. He won a lot...but I discovered that his fire extinguisher bottles had a secret hidden in them...a revolutionary gas...it was really 'laughable'. Spent a lot of time with Wally Parks, of NHRA fame.

Those were the days!

Your tax dollars at work!
I really don't mind my tax dollars supporting Mopars winning. Just not any other brands.:D

I also managed Buddy Baker our NASCAR entry, the Silver Eagles (a helicopter demonstration team) Billy Kidd a Motocross racer, and the Golden Knights...we also had a snowmobile racing team but that only lasted one year...I hated the cold.

I acted as the Army Representive to the President's Council on Physical Fitness and the Army Rep to the Eagle Scouts...

It was a super job for an Army Major...spent a lot of time in New York at NW Ayer our contract advertising agency.

Sounds like you had a good time doing that.

Thats how it sounds outside of my house every Fri and Sat night. I live next to an 1/8 dragstrip that my next door neighbor owns. I also get in free.

Living that close to a drag strip would be very expensive...I am 25 minutes away from Great Lakes Dragaway...and I have to exercise a lot of discipline to not spend all of my time there.

I wish I was close to a drag strip. I have to travel a hour and a half to get to one.

Great Video, now the younger guys can see why us older guys have it in our blood....Ah the sounds of open headers and all the 4 speed stock and super stock cars....I love hearing the shifting.

yeah and 13 and 12 secs was fast also, guys with money got into the 11's, I guess things haven't change that much the guys with the money now though are in the 10's and 9's:marchmellow: :marchmellow: also those cars are close to 4000lbs and can smash through a brick wall and still get 11.5 in the 1/4. Isn't that where the term lead sleds came from:confused: :marchmellow:
