CONGRATS! on the purchase. i have a ECM sitting in my closet,i would part with. it was reflashed with a performance tune by MAGNUM PERFORMANCE in houston. (not sure if they are still in business though) any way,i pulled it out when i went with the paxton. i'll be getting home on thurs.and pull out the paperwork on it. at the very least you could send this one to have re-flashed with no down time. oh..and you would have to have your VIN installed. i'll check and see if MAGNUM PERFORMANCE is still around.

So what is the difference between the 99 V10 and the Viper V10

iron block and heads... 8.0 Litre,or as it should be refered to: a 488!

Ram Tough V10
Orginally developed in the 1980s as a truck engine used for the larger size Rams, the V10 was re-engineered as the engine of the Dodge Viper in 1990 by Lamborghini, then owned by Chrysler, and used in the Ram 2500. It was a rare engine and provided far less power than the rebuilt model in the Viper. It was used in Dodge trucks and was called the Ram Tough V10 Magnum

How many boring details do you want to know? Check out the link in my sig for a lot of them. PM me what specifics you want to know and I can fill you in.

B&G can flash your PCM. SCT is supposed to be working on support for it but I wouldn't hold my breath. Once I get the Magnum/Viper long block built I will be going to a SRT-10 QC PCM to control mine or ???$$$???.

Crower also makes a cam for it that matches the specs of the Viper's. Ebay has headers for the Ram Tough for under $250.00

Ohhh no you didn't! Every generation of heads bolt right on (head bolts work:eek: ). Gen 1 works with only slight modification to the heads (utilize Magnum head gaskets) and a valley tray to fill the void left by the intake and a remote T-Stat. Gen 2,3,4 and Striker require extensive modification (in progress on mine :D ). Once the heads are on any Generation intake manifold will work (except Gen 4 with 4). However, you would need a spacer (or thicker gaskets) to fill the void between the heads and intake because of the extra .25" of deck height. Could you still use your Magnum Intake with the Viper heads? Not really, because of the gap on each side of the intake manifold would trash fall into the valley tray (I guess you could seal that though) and the bolt patterns (on the heads) are not the same.

I can get into all of the details as to exactly what each problem is if you really want to. Most people lose interest at this point......:dontknow:
