Since you guys (and gals) are 2nd family to me, I wanted to share something with you...
Last week, on the way home from partying after going to one of the heat games, my brother crashed his brand new Infiniti G35 coupe almost straight into a parked car at 50+ mph. This happened on a dark two lane road in what was literally the blink of an eye.
Sometimes we can get too cocky and think we're handling our liquor, but that 1/2 second reaction time you lose from those few drinks could mean also losing your life. Losing my brother would've been devastating to me. He raised me up since my father wasn't around and never would I have thought this could happen to him.
LUCKILY, he is alive. He wasn't wearing his seat belt. He was propelled into the windshield head first, to then be bombarded with the airbags that deployed a little too late. He had to have plastic surgery done to his head, bruised his ribs, sternum, legs, everything you can think of. Obviously, someone up there is definitely looking out for him. If he would've hit the car about half a foot more towards the center, he would've been pinned and snapped dead on impact. If he would've had a passenger with him, they would have surely been dead. By chance, he walked away from this one without breaking a bone and more importantly, without killing anyone or himself.
I know this is about as cliche as it can get, but I'm asking everyone, especially since most of you are older than me and have families already, to just think twice about it next time. Not only would you be hurting yourselves, but everyone that depends on you and loves you.

I heard that dude!!! Booze and cars just dont mix period!!! I have a two beer limit when driving. So happy to see your bro will be ok. When he is better smack him twice, once for boozing behind the wheel and the other for the lack of a seat belt. Did the cops give him a DUI?

Thank you for sharing this with us.:( Our blessings to your brother and thank God he lived! - and had no passenger with him.

Just last Thursday night my 57 year old cousin was killed in a car accident :( -She fllipped a wreckless u-turn down near Parker, AZ and the vehicle went out of control into a canal. She didn't make it out and the folks who tried to help were unable to save her. Maybe if she would have used a little more caution she would have been better off. It is tragic but I am glad to say at least there was no one else was involved. Sometimes we get careless and forget it can happen to us, our family and friends...

I think of you all as my family and friends, so please drive careful :) :)

For real, sometimes I feel like I'M the older brother. I've bitched at him so many times already for drinking and driving. At least on the bright side of things, this is a big wake up call for him.
He didn't get a DUI though. He got a wreckless driving charge. The paramedics were actually telling him to stay in the ambulance because he was so drunk. He was covered in blood so the cops didn't even want to get near him. Thank God he didn't get a DUI. He'd really be screwed then. As it is, he has no health insurance and is gonna have to shell out all the cash for the medical bills.

Thank you for the blessing.
However, I'm so sorry to hear about your cousin. We send our blessings to you and your family for your loss. You're right though. We do forget that it can happen to those that are close to us. That's exactly why I sent this out to you guys, my second family

good post
There's blood all over the car if you look close enough. In some other pics I have it's very obvious, I just didn't want to post up anything too graphic. When I saw that in person, I almost lost it. I just couldn't believe that came from my brother, my own blood.

Thanks Mike

Sorry to hear and see this. What can you say that you already don't know. My best to you both.

Thank you for that post, I am sure it was hard to do. What you did takes real courage.

I don't drink myself as I quit entireley almost 9 years ago. I work with a lot of folks whose lives were ruined with alcohol. I see the tragic results weekly.
Please don't think I am preaching beacuse I am not. I just abused my right to drink so horriably that it is not safe for me to drink any longer. I did not get a DUI but should have had thousands. There is nothing wrong with drinking and having fun, but I can have just as much fun without alcohol, and can be just as silly.

I know a man who is 30 and was driving home drunk with his best friend as the passenger. He lost control and hit a pole on the passenger door at high speed killing his friend. This man has never gotten over that loss. He will carry that to his grave.

I am so glad to hear that your brother lived and will recover. Yes I think that we are looked after when we can't look after ourselves.

Please don't drink and drive.

At least his GCS is a 15... let's say coup - contra - coup together....

sounds like the check up from the neck up was "ok"

He is going to be one sore fella for the next few weeks.

Thank God he is going to be ok.

Glad to hear he survived and was not arrested for a DUI.

Now lets hope that he learned a leason. I am in such a habit of putting on my seatbelt that I do it just to move cars around in the driveway. I feel stupid when I do it, but then I never forget to either.

Good news that your brother is going to be ok and no others were hurt or killed. Looks like he used up 8 of his 9 lives. I hope your brother and a lot of others have learned something from this. There have been a lot of innocent people hurt/killed from other people’s stupidity.

I wish you and your family the best,
Smokin Joe

WoW, that was a BAd one..... Glad he's alright. Tell him he needs a Hummer or Somethin BIG to slow his ass down. I got away from sports cars until the GT2 I just got.......maybe I should give it back!

I am glad to hear ur bro is ok. THe car can be replaced but he cant. Live and learn. If ya need anything just holla.

Glad to hear your bro is going to be alright.

Just to further the point about not drinking and driving:
I got a DUI when I was 22 (thankfully no damage or injuries). In total, it cost me about $18,000- court fees, insurance costs, etc.

A cab ride home: $22.
A cab ride back to get my car: $22.

$44 (plus tip) versus $18,000.
They call us older and wiser for a reason, right?
:D

Looks like it was a real close call.....

Thankfully there was no loss of life.....

Yes, someone was riding alongside.....

God bless you all........

Hopefully we live and learn.....

All the best and again Thank God for a great reprieve.
