Since you guys (and gals) are 2nd family to me, I wanted to share something with you...
Last week, on the way home from partying after going to one of the heat games, my brother crashed his brand new Infiniti G35 coupe almost straight into a parked car at 50+ mph. This happened on a dark two lane road in what was literally the blink of an eye.
Sometimes we can get too cocky and think we're handling our liquor, but that 1/2 second reaction time you lose from those few drinks could mean also losing your life. Losing my brother would've been devastating to me. He raised me up since my father wasn't around and never would I have thought this could happen to him.
LUCKILY, he is alive. He wasn't wearing his seat belt. He was propelled into the windshield head first, to then be bombarded with the airbags that deployed a little too late. He had to have plastic surgery done to his head, bruised his ribs, sternum, legs, everything you can think of. Obviously, someone up there is definitely looking out for him. If he would've hit the car about half a foot more towards the center, he would've been pinned and snapped dead on impact. If he would've had a passenger with him, they would have surely been dead. By chance, he walked away from this one without breaking a bone and more importantly, without killing anyone or himself.
I know this is about as cliche as it can get, but I'm asking everyone, especially since most of you are older than me and have families already, to just think twice about it next time. Not only would you be hurting yourselves, but everyone that depends on you and loves you.
