Today, I drove the truck for the first time in rush hour traffic. It was stop and go for about 45 minutes. The temperature reached about 210 degrees and fluctuated back and forth between 210 and 170. Is this normal for the mods I have? The outside temerature was about 91 degrees and the humidity about 80%.

well I am in fl and it get hot,,, I would imagen that the road is well over 110 if not more and my truck never gets over 180.....And i always leave a good bit of distance infront of me for my truck dont suck up others exhaust,,,,,but as long as it dont get no hotter than 210 I would imagen you are fine

That's been my normal ops temp in the heat of the summer here in Clearwater for the past three years.... your good. I did swap thermostat's (running 172 degree) but is did not drop my temps when sitting in traffic... she still sit's at 210.

mine reads about 205 most of the time ----mostly in stop and g traffic here in fl...seems ok to me

Here is phoenix, and the temps are around 105-109, my has been running around 185 or so... but I do have Boomers cooling fan kit...so I am happy with that temp..

Now at sitting in stopped traffic she runs to a little over 200-205, but right back down when I start moving again a good speed.

Thanks for all the feedback. You have restored my confidence that nothing has gone wrong.

Phoenix 100 degrees...i'm at 200 even all day!

Last summer I had to head out just west of Phx. Outside temps were about 119F. If I recall correctly truck never went above 220 water and about 210 oil while stopped and idling. I can say with certainty....power to the rear wheels is GREATLY reduced. ECM really kills the power when the heat is up. Damn thing felt like a Hemi.....

U know I used to worry about this.Put a 170 t-stat in with my stage II
Thought it would make a diff.NOT!Runs around 200 in traffic.Does go under 200 on extended highway runs.Dont worry about it.!!!

my 5.9 is another kind of engine, but it looks like 210 is pretty common for these trucks.

I also have a 5.9 and it runs 170-185 no matter how hot,stuck in traffic,AC on or off.I have a 160* t-stat,headers,high flow cat,MagnaFlow muffler,under drive pulleys,K&N filter on it.

Yeah Thats right. Even with the 170 T stat My engine on a hot day in stop and go goes to 220 sometimes. But on the freeway it is about a cool 168:rock:

You guys stand by...I've got a solution for the temperature issues in the making. If the creeks don't rise too much around here, I'll have a bolt in replacement custom aluminum radiator available in the next 2-3 weeks...that's fix it once and for all...:D

Alright Brother I'm down for it:rock: Get That Radiator.

I would definitely be interested as long as the results are noticable.
