Looks good. Now tsmith3 will have a good idea how his truck will turn out. I think it would look even better with a blacked out grill and the stripe painted on the grill too.

a little direction

I little help :)

if you want a 1x 2 drop ,

first all the shackles I know of only drop the rear approximatly 1.5 inches, this levels out the truck with it still having a small amount of rake

to go any lower with the rear you will have to do one of two things,

one remove a leaf from the pack, preferably the overload leaf, BUT this takes away the hauling capacity so be carefull

any lower and you will have to flip the axle

on the front if you want jsut 1 inch lower, do this find someone with a regular cab and buy the springs off them, they are a touch lower

cutting the springs is possible but it does change the spring rate of the spring, making it much softer rate than what it was.

DO NOT like OSO was saying, use ANY kind of heat, that will collapse the spring, and it will be useless.

looking at the pic you will see the one on the left is about an inch bigger or taller than the right

left qc right rc

the pics dont show it too well, but its only aobut 3/4 inch difference or about the size of a coil.

jeese and to think , I coulda done like others and jsut sold this to ya ;)

Are the spring rates the same on the RC and QC?

I would say that they would have to be. Just looking at the spring, I see 8 coils on the QC and 6 on the RC.

However, I like this idea in theory to get the truck a little lower in the front, but still easily aligned.

I also like the thought of the shackle and removing the "helper" spring. I don't tow and I won't haul anything over 500-700lbs at a time (and only then for short distances, and not often at all), so for me losing a little payload capacity isn't a big deal.

no they aint , but very close less than 50 lb spring rate difference:)

and yessir I am:p

Good to know. If I can find an RC'er who wants to part with his stock springs, I'll buy 'em.

If you go this route, it would probably be easier to get some stock ones from stinker when he sells his next RC kit. Then he could ask the buyer if he wants to get rid of his stock springs.

2" drop you have problems aligning................ if you remove 1/4 to 1/2 a coil you will still be in the slot with room to play with............ It will ride EXACTLY the same it just wont be as high :)

nobody I have sold the 2/5 drop to has told me they have had to lengthen the holes, so far everyone has had no problems aligning theres;)

Just a curosity question, how much lighter would the two RC springs be compared to the two QC springs?

Your kit will be different.................

The Xmetal, Mcgauphys and others needed lengthened slots to align.

Your springs dont sag like theres did.

Correct me if I'm wrong... but it sounds like a stock RC spring will only drop a QC 1", not 2". I don't want a 2" drop, otherwise I'd just buy Stinker's aftermarket 2/4 drop kit.

I think with the RC coils you would get a spongy ride.......

Tony's kit has shorter springs that are designed for the weight of out trucks. The RC coils are designed for the RC Weight.

McGauphies used a spring that is/was soft and the outcome is shiet :) You either have no suspension or wheels that run up into the wheel wells...........

If you have the money buy Tony's if you dont just remove and cut....... or flip and cut............... do not buy a belltech or Mcgauphies.

Now my friend says he found 2" drop spindles for 1000 bucks............... that the best drop if its real but holy hell thats a bunch of cheese :)

leaf pack

thanks for the info. i removed the load spring from leaf pack today,,it lowered
1 to 2 inches,,looks and drives great, thanks
