I can tell you from experience that Dodge used two different blacks in 2005. Dealer needs your Vin# to determine which black was used. Had to repaint my tailgate when I shaved it....twice!

Early production 06's were solid black.
Later ones got the metallic or "Brilliant Black".

SRTBRAD was telling about how in 06 only a small number of trucks were mistakenly painted solid black, not brilliant black. That's pretty cool.

It wasn't a mistake on the painting, it was a mid year change.

I did make a mistake on what I typed.
(And I'm not drinking...yet.)

I should have said '06. I have a black '06 R/T Dakota.
When I bought it I noticed the difference in the blacks.

They had 'em in both flavors.

Not sure about the wheels.
But I've wondered since then, the Night Runner Dakota and Rams had "Black Crome" wheels.
Not painted like the SRT's. Wonder why they didn't use the Black Crome on the 10's too?:dontknow:

I agree. Black chrome would of looked sweet!
