Paxton Kit woes

Ok, I need some help. I have a paxton kit and I cant keep the aftercooler from blowing off the supercharger or the intake pipes. I have seen a max of 7.5lbs of boost but it usually blows of before that. I bought the kit used. The 2 pipes from the throttle body don't line up like I would like.
May some close up pics of the piping might help:dontknow:
I have spent hours on this damn thing. Any advice would help

I also have alot of oil blowing into the intake pipes:dontknow: Truck only has 7k miles so I wouldnt think it has piston blow by.:dontknow:

OK are you using the ring clamps that came with the kit? You need the badass ones. You can get them at many places. They have double bolts with lock nuts on them. This will solve your blow-off problem. Now as far as oil in the piping this is half-ways normal if your out there putting boost through it regularly. On your engine possibly being blown, it doesnt matter if you have 7000 miles or 700 miles or even 7 miles, if your fueling system fails even "ONCE" on a long run you can cook your engine that dam quick I promise you. You absolutely need an air/fuel gauge if you dont have one. If you already have one just be sure the air/fuel is good all the way up to redline. You should typically be between 12 or 13 to be safe. Anyway be safe with a blower or your engine will pay the ultimate price. Cya,
 
I do have air fuel guage. It reads 14's under light boost and much richer under wot. I have only had this charger on for 50 miles or so. I'm trying to fix these problems so I can use the damn thing.
The oil blows out of the blow off to the point that the ac drier is covered in oil already. The throttle plates are pretty wet.
I did get some better clamps from oriellys that have a lock nut. But that hasn't solved the problem.

Dont worry about any readings unless your flooring it. Ok I hate to be negative here but I dont have a choice. . . . I would be willing to bet money there is an oil leak in the blower itself. The oil is causing a lubricated condition, making your hoses blow off. There should be VERY LITTLE, IF ANY oil outside of the supercharger system. Oil on your evap is absolutely abnormal. The blowoff should not have much oil blow out at all. Go ahead and check the paxton oil feed lines/connections under the alternator and be sure your not leaking there and causing oil spray. With 50 miles and considerably wet TB blades, your getting too much old in the intake hoses. You are probably going to need to have the supercharger unit itself looked at. I am sorry, but I feel I may be right on this one. Maybe it wont cost too much to fix. Robert. Cya.

I had the same problem with cooler pipe coming off on the dyno yeterday. It was the one that was coming from the paxton outlet to the water cooler tank. In the end, I used a longer hose and those nice clamps mentioned earlier. I tried just the better clamps first, but it still popped off. Clint had an extra piece of the blue hose, about an inch longer the one that comes with the kit. We replaced it and no more blowing off. As far as oil, I too have some oil in my tubes and I think that was helping the tube come off, also. I think part of the problem is that the by pass hose that comes off of the Paxton and goes to the right valve cover. I may cap that fitting off at the paxton and install a catch can coming off of the right valve cover.
 
l'd have to agree with Rob.... l have the Paxton, and when l took everything off to change the belt l looked over everything as best l could. Everything from the inside of the pipes to the throttle blades were squeaky clean and dry. Definitely sounds like you've got a bad seal or something within the blower. l also have my blowoff pointed at the back corner of the wheelwell/firewall and it's clean, too. l second the opinion of getting the unit looked at..

so the paxton kit puts pressure into the crankcase?? i would think that'd be bad:dontknow:
 
I just made a few hard runs and kept the intake tubing together finally. :rock: The oil is comming from the engine side not the charger side im pretty certain. The charger side of the aftercooler is much drier than the motor side of the aftercooler. I dont have the pcv setup that came with the new paxton kit. I made my own from the drivers valve cover to the intake. I used a pcv valve that seems to hold pressure from going into the valve cover. I dont know if maybe this set-up I am using is causing a problem.
So, I just tooke the fitting of the valve cover and drove it around. (I know its subseptable to dirt now, but I gutta know whats going on.) I got no oil out of the valve cover, so I am certain my problem isn't blow by. Sheww :eek:
I might just cap the intake port and put a filter on the drivers valve cover. :dontknow:

I forgot to mention. I have my fuel pressure sender is on the fuel port on pass side rail. At 6.5lbs boost my a/f 11.8-12.1 but my fuel pressure is mid 20's :argh:
Could it be the location on the rail instead of at the fuel in-line. Or should I be scared. Let me rephrase that. I am scared.. is it with good reason?:D
 
You're getting 11.8 - 12.1 on Torrie's base Paxton tune? He's usually much more conservative than that. His base Paxton tune on my truck was down to 10:1 at WOT under full boost. My fuel pressure was down to around 30psi at WOT and full boost. Torrie was slightly concerned with it, but was okay with it, as long as the A/F stays below 12.0. He did suggest a Kenne Belle Boost-a-Pump in the future, for insurance.
 
Its runs at 10.0 until a hard 3rd gear pull to over 100mph. Then its starts to drop as boost starts to climb. I think the fuel pump is at or past its limits. I plan on doing internals next year sometime, but I dont wanna blower up and cost myself extra loot!!
 
With my diesel drag truck we solved the intercooler boot issue by using brake clean to remove any traces of oil and then used hair spray to glue to boot to the piping. This would hold 100+psi of boost no problem. I agree thou any large quanities of oil into the air system is not good. seal issue on the Paxton?

:dontknow: My truck drops down to like 48 or so, and my tuners Paxton Viper drops even lower. He can still put the a/f wherever he wants. Maybe you had something else going on???

:congrats: :congrats: That would be your answer....take the line that goes to the supercharger and then to the blow-bye.
Vise-grip it off so there's NO flow to the supercharger, if it don't dry-up after a few miles ....than the blower has a seal that is bad.
If it's the smaller of the two seals...$250-$300.00. If it's the larger one (in my case) it's $500.00/bucks + shipping. :(
Plus the truck will be down for awhile :argh: Shipping to Oxnard takes about a week, and they need a week to work on it.

I went though this in '07, my tail-pipe actually had oil dripping from it........:eek:

I hear what you're saying and would totally agree with you, if I didn't see it for myself. On Torrie's base tune that he sent me, fuel pressure would drop to about 30 PSI and A/F would bottom the gauge out at WOT. So, the air/fuel number was probablt below 10:1, but that's as low as the gauge goes. While the truck was on the dyno, I asked Torrie what he thought about the fuel pressure dropping. He said taht he doesn't look at fuel pressure as long as the A/F numbers are good. But told me to get the Boost-a-pump, just in case.
 
If the supercharger was leaking wouldn't there be more oil on the supercharger side than on the egine side? Mine is wetest from the throttle blades to the aftercooler:dontknow:
