Took off the heads to ship to 1fast400 and found this inside the cylinder wall of the motor. I've also included another pic of the piston that failed. Enjoy

This is what happens when you buy a used modded vehicle and arent told all the details of what it had been running prior to purchase.

Beautiful paper weight ! :D
Congrats Dave!! Definitely a keeper!

I've got one similar to that from one of my first (used) cars - a 1980 Mercury Capri 2.3 'Turbo'.

It only took me about an hour from the time of purchase to burn a hole right through the rings, then down through the canter of the piston. Then I had oil all over my hood!!!:dontknow: To this day it still makes for a great conversation piece.:D

Nothing to enjoy in those pictures. That is painful, scary, and down right rude.

For sure coyote ugly.

I wouldn't be worried about it unless I was SC with stock pistons.
Ohhhhh shoot, sorry Prof! :p:p

I think this was in the making with the unknown amount of nitrous/propane and a lean tune (from what I've gathered so far). The Paxton was installed after the nitrous/propane was taken out. So...it was only a matter of time and of course happened soon after I bought the truck (never being told of the nitrous/propane or its amount).

Dave T...........some guys will do anything to get pictured on the front page of this site.....

I can't imagine what your heart felt when you heard that happen :(

Yep!

I agree. When talking to Phil (Big Asp). You could see the pain in face everytime he talked about it

Luckily, I wasnt there when it was dynoed. I did get a call though. I thought it would be something like the #3 piston but no, it had to be worse.

OUCH!

For shit clearance from top ring land to the piston deck with the stockers... aftermarket is so much better

Makes me a bit nervous with the SC on stock pistons.. I would love to get them swapped.... :burnout: so far...:burnout: so good.

Stockers vs. Diamond

5.6 lbs. of boost...I think that is pretty safe...maybe I will put a little shot on top of that...and still be relatively safe...ya think????

Wow, not much to those stockers. The Diamond ones look like they'll hold up for the job at hand on my truck...I hope :) So far...so good.

Makes a good ashtray. Sorry to hear about your misfortune. At least you have an excuse to build the engine with all the proper conponents from scratch to handle the SC and Nitrous.

The previous owner had nitrous before the Paxton. I'm just running the Paxton and by next month add water/meth injection along with a better tune. Should see an increase of at least 100 rwhp.

How much psi can the roe make? and how much can the stock pistons take? and how much can the diamonds take? I know it's not exact but just getting an idea
