Very nice car John. Reminds me of the one I used to own about 15 years ago. Mine was a Black, Contempory Classic replicable of a 66 with an original 427 side oiler fully built. It was an absoulutely crazy car to drive. Specially when you're young and don't know any better.

Since you owned a Contemporary Classic, can you give Barry any advice on the one he is looking at?

In addition to what you mentioned, mine originally came with a top loader transmission which I upgraded to a tremec 5 spd. I had to make a custom billet adapter to make it work. I didn't like how it shifted. The other thing worth mentioning was the tendency to overheat untill I added a pusher fan in addition to the puller and a product called 40 below. I also invested in the convertible top. The top is definitely not worth the money. The fit and finish was acceptable for a car that was built in 84 if I recall correctly.

SO stands for Side Oilers. It was an oiling improvement they made to the 427 FE series of engines. They are somewhat rare and very desireable. When you go to look at the car, be sure to get as much information on the engine and transmission that you can.

"hi Jake, think you CAN die burrying your head in those..."

If his wife catches him with his head buried in those, then yes, she will kill his sorry ass.

o well... i don't know anymore....problem is that Belgian laws are so stupid... seems the dealer can only provide that Cobra with "O" license plates... which means "oldtimer"... which involves : you may only drive it in the weekends, by day light ... and at maximum some 20 miles from your home....:(
now, beeing a KIT car..... there's another big danger : as long as YOU own it on YOUR oldtimer licenses plates you may drive it as above BUT... when you want to sell it .. the car must pass a tech inspection... and you're NEVER sure about them "wishes"... what i mean : when that dealer has some good connections at one of the official tech stations , he may pass inspection ...but when you want to sell , let's say some years later , you are on your own... as good NO approval... according Belgian wisdom  they can refuse such cars when they have prove it's a '80s built kit car with a '65 title....

Big difference for example with my '70 Vette.... that one is road legal as any other car... because it was made in production, imported by GM to Europe ...and papers do match.... :)
