spray I really hate to tell you, but your engine is not gonna last with just pistons on oem rods , sorry bud, and with direct port an dthe amount you are gonna spray you should have used hellfire rings, and probably billet mains and a good set of rods,

jsut adding pistons isnt gonna work bud:eek:

Where can I get some good rods that will work with the factory style piston and how much are the billet mains and what all has to be done extra to put the billet mains in ?????

Stinker can hook you up with whatever you need:D

I'll jsut respond here:)

oem pistons want work with nos, you will run into the very same problem

the ring lands on the oem pistons are way too weak to hold nos for very long

the best way to go is to go with aftermarket pistons, and maybe k1 rods

after market pistons run int he area of $1450 or so depending on rings

rods about $800

billet mains have to have the block line bored, usually around $750 it depends on your builder and macchine shop

billet mains run about $750

then you can only use oem rods, there isnt an aftermarket rod that uses the .943 pin that i know of, most all aftermarket rods for the vipers use a .927 pin size.

the problem with the oem engines and forced induction or nos is this, and maybe someone will chime in on this alos

the pistons are junk, ring lands are to far to the top to hold too much pressure, in other words they are too thin and the compostition of material is weak, thus under too much pressure from a blower, turbo, or nos and the ring land will start to crack, eventually failing.

the rods are made of powder, thats right a powder, then stamped into the rod, thus the rods are only good for around 650-700 hp, and being of powder they have a lot of give and flex, resulting in breakage. not being able to stand up tto the pressure there fore pounding tthe crap outta the rod bearings.

now also if you were running nos, and had to turn the crank .20 you seriously need to get it professionally checked for straightness, i tried three cranks for eddies motor, every one bent. from .26 thousands to .40 thousands.

an easy build is going with a K1 rod, which will bolt to the oem crank, and uses a .927 pin, or you can also go with a sbc rod, turn the crank to a 2.100 but you still would need aftermarket pistons to use the .927 pin

billet mains are prefered on big builds or big shots of nos, the oem main caps are small and weak and ahve a tendency to walk around on the block a bit.

plus if you are doing a big shot, upgraded valve springs and push rods should be used , due to the increased pressure on the entire engine .

this is why I quote close to 10k on a short block,
you really need someone that has a relation with viper blocks, a normal ol time sbc builder is not the way to go

Bottom line is new rods an pistons an spray a 150 or 125 shot.... on my 150 shot i made 786 tq don't know the horse power because it spun the wheels on the dyno

i'm still impressed with the $14,000 set of titanium rods
:dontknow: :dontknow: :dontknow:

That's crazy TQ man. How big of a shot do you think I could go with??? being that my motor wasn't built with that in mind:dontknow: :)
