Pissed off Owner

Welcome to my world. There's a part of me that thinks they are casting these things one-by-one.

I busted mine (right side as well) back in March-28:

And got the replacement by July-10:

There was no real doubt that the part would arrive. It was just a matter of time. A lo-o-o-o-o-o-ng time. Needless to say, even my service and parts guys were pissed. My truck was sitting crippled on one of their main lifts the entire time... They couldn't put it down on the chassis...

I marked it down as the price I paid for breaking a truly limited production performance vehicle.;)

I fab pipe in my shop for mechanical systems (3"=30" diameter) as part of my business. I use equipment dating back to 1939. When parts go, they are definately NOT on a shelf somewhere. I have never waited the kinds of times you guys are talking about. I would be OUT of business. I have learned to be very resourceful finding "old school" shops still fabbing the good stuff.;)

well part of the reason is this part was only made for 04-05 srt-10's how mant of these trucks were built? the other is this isnt a high failure component, meaning its not working one moment and not the next. yes I agree that chrysler should have a few in stock, but steering knuckles isnt something you replace on a vehicle everyday. being that this is a limited production part, they are probably waiting for enough orders to fulfill the msq (minimum sales quantity)

well this doesn't sound good. i've read alot of threads, in just the few months that i've had mine, about people having a tough time finding parts.

if i wind up having to wait months for any OEM parts for mine, i'll literally drive it right up the district manager's ass.

The rest of the time I was down was for body work and paint. But like I said, 10 days and all the hardware was back on the truck. The longest wait was for my turn on the alignment rig, so they could make sure everything was still straight, whew!, got lucky again. The hardest pieces for them to find where all the plastic body panels down the side. But they had those and the bumper by the time the body work was done. I did have to wait about 15 days for a paint booth, that sucked. Would have had to waited longer, but they painted it on a weekend and used two of the three booth's.

All in all, I never want to go through it again, but I still thing there not working very hard for you. I will have to admit. I know the two guys in that run the parts department and they busted there ass to help me get it done.

Good luck. You might want to do some of your own research and see if you can call some of the other dealerships around the country and see what you can find.

It just pisses the hell out of me that you are not getting the same kind of service that I got. One would think that these parts are available, people are either choosing not to give them up or pure laziness.

I know we have some guys on here that work really hard at their dealerships and may disagree with me. I do respect their inside knowledge of what goes on. I'm only speaking from my experience only.

Give them hell man, You shouldn't be put on disregard status just because you have a rare vehicle

yeah, yeah, i know. but with gas prices these days i'm not willing to drive it any further than the DM's office to run up a Dodge exec's ass. ;)

i don't care what the lemon laws say, or what kind of legal responsibility Dodge has in the matter. bottom line is that they need to have parts on hand. its just poor planning and poor inventory management to run out of the parts. when they got down to a couple dozen left nationwide, they should have ordered/made more then.

WILDMAN

I heard from a very good source that these were already made now and waiting to be shipped. The parts vender won't ship them because chrysler owe's them money. It's not just the steering knuckle, there are other parts too. I really don't care if these are low production vehicles. They should still have to provide parts in a resonable amount of time.

How many of you would have bought your truck if the dealer told you that parts were going to be very hard to find for it, nearly impossible. I wouldn't have.

I hear that Chrysler and Daimler and the Company that is buying out Daimler are fighting over who is responsible to pay for these parts. No one wants to pay for them.

Actually I would be looking for a used one. Lord knows there are enough wrecked ones out there.

But Daaaad, you said Look Out for used steering parts................................

Should they get magnifluxed, zyglowed, crack finding penatrant, x-rayed or something!!!!!:dontknow: :dontknow:  :D ;)
