I need help I have no clue what to do but i will start at the beginning

1 year ago i put long tube header and high flow cats on my Hemi

I couldn’t get the O2's are lean codes to go away(ok this is ok with the headers people get them 1 or 2 times a year i got them 1 or 2 times a week)

The truck had an uneven idle i got the dealer to fix it under warrantee they put in 2 new O2's and 2 new fuel injectors.

the truck ran great until last week (other than the O2's lean)

last week the truck bogged down and back fired

Kevan and I looked under the truck and found that the muffler was split wide open the seam was leaking the length of the muffler

so it ran like crap almost undrivable it would bog down idle uneven and I through a code for multiple cylinder misfire and one of the O2's is burned out again

well i took it to the dealer today and they told me after having it all day that all he could find was the O2 that’s bad but that can not be why it is running so bad? And he needed to keep it until tomorrow. I told him ok so

i understand that I altered the exhaust no more warrantee (he said his boss lost it the first time he covered it for me) so since the codes was exhaust related I have to pay for the scan ok $90

But (yes there is always a but with me:( ) but this is not the reason it is running so bad and he needs to look into it more (OK) so I told him to stop at $200 for the diagnostics. that already more than i can afford

Please any help would be great or advice on what to do Kevan is working on getting the muffler welded for me

I don’t know why im having trouble no one that I know with the same set up is having problems???

please help

Did you check all the spark plugs to make sure they are ok? Wires too? What cylinders are popping codes, and are they on the same ignition pack?

Make sure you dont have a header leak....check where they bolt to the engine and at the mids....a leak can cause the O2 sensors to give false readings......I have seen this several times with the LX Hemis...

Kieth you still have that hemi? Man you swore to me you were getting a 10..?:dontknow:

I did???:dontknow:

Im going to check the header tomorrow when i get it back thanks

a few thoughts

first of all i think the fuel system is working due to all the gas getting into the muffler and exploding it!!! the problem is the misfiring of the plugs, so you need to run the truck a bit to get it to load the exhaust. you might not want to fix the mufflers yet !! then shut down the engine and pull the plugs noting which ones are "wet" . check the plug wires to the wet ones and if they seem to be ok , then switch the plugs around maintaining the correct firing order. run the engine abit then shut it down, and then check the plugs again to see if it is the same cylinders that are missing or if it is the plugs. you can gain alot of information with this procedure. it takes time but your time is cheaper then "shop" time and you will learn more from it doing it yourself. try to isolate the condition to some specific areas and then you can deal with the trial and error of changing items . these new engine types are a little more difficult to diagnose then the old distributor and carburetor types . but can still be understood. have some fun learning, you will feel a great appreciation for getting it fixed yourself. and alot less helpless the more you get to know . try a few things and keep us informed . take alot of pictures along the way to help us help you along.   :D :D :toilet: :toilet: :nurse: :nurse: or just sell it cheap and buy beer!!!:)

There will come a time when I'm old and decrepit. That's when you'll hear, "Keith....remember that time when I did all that stuff with your truck? Yeah....now change the oil in my truck!"
:D

I think my favorite part so far is when the guy at the dealership said that the split along the entire length of the muffler is a weep hole.

Either that, or the fact that Keith found the period key on the keyboard.
:D :D :D

Heh heh. What did Magnaflow say? "Sure....we put 14" long weep holes in all our mufflers..."?
"We put them about 2" high too....just to make sure you have a decent amount of moisture in there before it gets released...."
:D

:D

I told him what happend and that the tech told me it was a weep hole and he was shocked and said there is no reason for a weep hole in a muffler that would just be an exhust leak

Tell use the year and every mod you have done. superchips? Have you changed the spark plugs? etc.....

K&N CAI
long tube headers highflow cats and a magnaflow single in single out catback

thats it!

The tech i just talked to that looked at the truck said that there is nothing wrong with it. i just need a tune that will handle my free flowint exhust. he is going to tell me more when i go pick it up in a bit. kevan is taking me to get it. i will let you know what he tells me.

For the next 24 hours, there is no God in Columbus, OH.
Only Tressel.
:D

We picked up Keith's truck at the dealership tonight. Very nice place, and some very cool service guys. When I explained the Magnaflow leak, the tech said, "Ahhh...the seam on the side. I was looking on the top and bottom.". :)

It seems as though Keith has done just enough upgrades on his RumbleBee to piss off the PCM. It's now time to feed it. :D

The CAI is letting in plenty of air.
The headers and catback are letting out plenty of air.
Now he needs enough fuel to keep the engine running.
The stock PCM is at it's limit regarding fuel delivery.

He's got some info on new PCMs and tuners. Hopefully Santa comes a bit early and gives him some gas.
:D :D :D

Might want to try the wire mod to the air intake sensor. I actually have a new one around here if you want it. It will tell the PCm that the air is colder and deliver more fuel to compisate.

Yeah what kevan said!

I will keep you in the loop on what i go with if it is a handheld or a new custom map PCM

I have at least 5 personal friends with the same truck with allot more mods ( heads, long tubes, cut outs, cam, intake, etc...) than this. And they do not have this problem. I am going to have them visit this thread and see if they can shed some light on this.
