Alright lately my brakes have been squeaking like no tomorrow...not just a little squeak, they squeal like a pig..sounds like a train trying to stop...get the picture:mad:

I was in South Beach today and was embarrassed to even be down there with my truck squealing like that...I know they're performance brakes but my God that is too much...they mainly do it at slow stopping speeds and light braking...also a lot more noisy and frequent when they're hot...I experimented with different pressures applied and it goes from light squeak to full on squeal..noticed also that I sometime get squeak from different sides at different pressures

My brakes are pretty much new still and the rotors seem fine...I am looking if someone knows how to do an at home fix? I know I can go out and buy new brakes but like I said these are pretty much new and right now I don't want to be buying new brakes again just to trash these...

Stinker posted in a thread about sanding and cleaning but I can not find the thread anymore. Can anyone please tell me how to bring the squealing down? I am a DIY'er so i just need suggestions or techniques on how to solve this...
Thanks in advance!

there are two fixes:
1. is scuff the rotors with a scotch brite pad. (inside and out, this knocks off any glazing)
2. some prefer to heat them up as in bedding procedures.

I know bro I would love to get them but like I said just bought these and right now buying pads is the last thing I want my money going to (end of the month all the bills due)

so anyone with tips please share them....just can't justify buying new brakes, don't want to sound cheap (although I know it does)....lol

With the stock pads these are a temporary fix. Right?

Sanchoba can you fill me in on the bedding procedures..not too familiar with it...

To remove the glaze, just take off the pads and scuff them on the concrete and resurface the rotors. Its not a permanent fix but it will do for now.

You can print it out on Zeckhausens site.

Sorry, Didn't mean to but in.
no harm done..it's what the thread is for, options....
I will probably go with the Z-pad next month but for now I need something to hold me over...I can't take it anymore and I drive with the windows down...

how long will this hold over?
so what is my problem the pad or the rotor? I'm assuming if the pad is changed=problem solved:dontknow:

Its the pad, The softer the compound the louder the squeek.

This is from one of the SRT engineers on a forum chat session:

"If your brakes have gotten more noisy and you are driving around like a granny,
do 3 or 4 hard but non-ABS stops from 60-20 mph."

ps quoted in my sig. :D

I always glue my brake pads to the caliper with this stuff:

http://www.crcind.com.au/catalogue.nsf/web_brands/Disc+Brake+Quiet?openDocument

It works great. It's like a thick sticky goo that dries into a rubbery silicon type texture. It prevents the oscillations between the brake pad and the caliper piston. Supposedly that's where the noise actually comes from. It makes the brakes stay totally quiet. I have used it on every vehicle I own, and I have never had any problems with removing the pads during the next brake change, etc.

This is what I am using on the front brakes on my '06 QC and they are nice and quiet.

I've seen that stuff before....i usually use the blue stuff, but tomorrow the wheels are coming off, going to get those brakes out and scuff along with that CRC and see if it helps...
might as well give the wheels a good scrubbing while they're off..
