Has anybody done this? Is there any advantage:dontknow: I know in a gen II lightning it's a big difference:rock:

Maybe even taper the slots on the two plates that mount sideways on the lower intake also:dontknow:

It sucks that my engine blew:mad: But my wheels have really been turning the last few days:rock: :D

Interesting!
Is it true that ROE is making a new improved bigger SC?

It's not bigger I don't believe;) He is switching to a different style I have heard so they will work on the trucks and cars:dontknow:

the only thing different is where the intake side of the compressor is going to be. the new style is going to come in the back, not the top.

Jeff Moryres(sp) has done this for some people...but you may know him for his Stiker heads! He can port and polish anything!!

So no performance gains then??

correct me if i'm wrong... but isn't porting ( all that work :( ) the same as swapping to a tiny little bigger pulley ? :dontknow: If we are at the max HP for a given "build or not " engine ....the only gains are some HP that the SC himself takes perhaps by porting so he gets it easyer in.... ?? :dontknow: :dontknow:

the more air in the more air out.... so yes i think it should gain a few horsepower

it would be like porting anything else, if you are looking to squeze every bit of hp out of it then do it.

with the type of blower a roe is(screw-type) you would be better off with just getting a smaller pulley. the eaton supercharger on the lightning is a roots style and takes better to the porting mostly because it lowers the the blower outlet temps. the screw type blowers are more efficient and have significantly lower blower outlet temps at the same boost levels.

So is it worth getting if you are the stressed to have numbers or are some members looking to have a Dyno Queen? But can not move on the pavement?

also, if your roe blower is still new enough and has a warrantee on it you can kiss it goodbye. i doubt roe would warrentee a modified blower. if you had issues with it.

I'm not just looking for big #'s;) I just figured while it was off if it's worth it I would go ahead and do it:D Joe a PPJ says he's trying one out right now:rock: I'll wait and see what he says.

Good point;) But what could go wrong with one of these blowers really:dontknow: There self contained just keep a check on the oil and there should never be a problem:D

well the Lightnings take the porting on the eatons to the extreme with the porting that can be done. Still case flex has known to be an issue with porting blowers, causing rear bearing failure which then causes the rotors to lock up. Not alot has been researched with this. but it does happen, and in all cases, not just high boost applications, as little as an extra 4lbs of boost which is normal with a Lightning even without the port job.

so I would boil it down to case flexing. and really, it would be cheaper to go with a different size pulley and just put more boost into it.

So what does Sean say about porting his system?

Don't know haven't talked to him about it:dontknow: I may give him a call next week and just see what he says:D

Ask Sean what he thinks....:dontknow:

What failed?...rod?

Joe at PBJ has fabricated a new insert plate in my intake. It should go to the flow bench this weekend.

Joe got the insert plate onto the flow bench. He worked the template over until it his work showed no sign of improvement. He is happy with the results, so I should be ecstatic. Now the design is off to the milling machine to be made into final form.
