The Boss and I came across a thread in DTW. The thread is about a guy that survived his near death accident on the 74 freeway in Riverside County. The accident was in his 04 SRT10. He is giving away his truck for free if you can get the truck out of the canyon.

We have sent the owner an email stating we would like to try to get the truck and use it to raise funds for Ken and Dawn.

Anybody interested in helping to get this truck if we get the go ahead from the owner.

Here is the link:

Thats the idea but no word from the owner yet.

I can't find Portola or Ironwood Country Club off of 74.
About 4 miles up there's an intersection for 74 and Ortega. That's about it.

$1000 to lift it by chopper to the airport? Total deal.
I'd get in on that.

From what I understand the owner is OK now but almost died in the accident. No response from the owner so far. I wish I could just go there and pick it up but I need his permission first as he is the owner of that truck. I emailed him on Saturday morning around 10:00am but still no response. I wonder if there is anything else I can do to get this truck. I will donate all proceeds to Ken and Dawn.

Brad... that's over the top man! You got to be crazy! Like it... but holy shit... that's a lot of work.

Kind of like me going all the way to West Virginia from here to go Turkey hunting, and all I got to do is go to the grocery...and Turkey is between the bacon and beef....;):dontknow: LOL. (not sure where I was going with that).

Anyhow... wanted you to know that I am humbled that you would even consider tackling a project like that... for some jackass you have never met.

Say's alot about you, and the great people we have on this site.

Don't know what else to say... shocked at the mere thought of someone attempting something like that for the benefit of another person....even if it does not pan out.

Unreal.

Ken and Dawn,

It is not just me that is attempting to do this. I have 3 other forum members I know of that are confirmed to help and some pending if we get the go ahead. Is this over the Top.............Yes..........Is it an opportunity to help someone in TRUE need...............Yes. A few days out of the my life to help a forum member in true need is what any member would do if they consider this club "family".:D

We would like all the help we can get with getting the truck. If we get the go ahead to get the truck out then you can pay for the air lift costs to take the truck out and make out a donatiion to Ken & Dawn for what you feel the motor is worth. :) Lets just hope we get the go ahead. Haven't heard anything yet.

I'd love to go.
But even if I left now, I'd be late. :)

Take LOTS of pics. I'm curious as to how far down the truck is.
What about one those bigass tow trucks (the ones that tow buses and full-loaded semis)? I've seen those guys get some gnarly stuff out of the woods.
