Anyone done it? Will it work? Seems like it will get to hot???

I would guess that Powder Coating would not work.

I do know that a lot of the restored Jag's I have see have Porcelin coated their exhaust manifolds. It can be done in colors also. You might check them out.

JMB lists that he does them but was told it would get too hot.

Turn those manifolds and heat shields

from rusty to better than new with high

temperature powdercoating
. Available

in High Temp Colors.

Prices are for a set.

How difficult is it to uninstall/install them

From what Ive heard not too bad pull the front wheels off. Pull wheel wells to access the bolts from the headers to the heads. the 3 bolts on the bottom of the headers can be a PITA from what Ive heard, some have had to cut off.

Will let you know though doing my Headers/ Mids tomorrow morning. :D

Yeah, hear he does great work...but not sure it is worth the work of taking them off or if i should just wait and get headers???

I investigated the powder coating process for exhaust manifolds and although it looks great I don't beleive it offers any heat protection compared to Jet Hot coatings. Jet Hot obviously makes the headers look better but most importantly lowers the heat transfer from the exhaust manifolds into the engine compartment which is a bonus as these engines do not like heat. Plus...some people I spoke to (right or wrong) were not sure if the powder coating would hold up as well as a Jet Hot coating 4 or 5 years down the road. I did not want to hassle with taking them off in 4 years and having them shipped back off and recoated then reinstaling them again.

I bought a set of exhaust manifolds from Steve and had the manifolds themselves coated in the Black 2,000 degree coating which they said the Black will "Never Come Off" and the heat shields in Silver. I'll shoot some pics later.

Thanks!
