Arnie and I were talking today about some track mods. I suggested to get 4.56 gears, Caltracks, QA1's, and M&H 390's as a starting point to go with his current mods.

What are your opinions about the QA1's compared to stock shocks for the 1/4 mile track? I'm for the QA1's but I hear some say the stocks are better. What say you?

QA1's are better, simply because you can adjust the compression and rebound. Therefore you can let the front end lift higher and stay up when you launch.

QA1's for the reason listed above, better weight transfer. Having said that though, I'm still running stock shocks and hook up good, I do plan on installing the QA1 shocks.

QA1's for sure for quarter! Stocks might be better ride for the street, but saying that the QA1's could be adjusted to ride as good as stock on street??

I say Stock! Look at the fastest 60ft times on this forum and they all are running stock. Sure QA1s are better for the track if that's all you do with your 10. Soon as you hit the street it will handle like a 70's station wagon:(
Yes you could get under the truck and adjust the four corners everytime you race then again when you leave, but...............................

Guess I'll stay with the stocks, didn't realize it would run like shit. I pretty much want the truck trouble free as possible. Guess a 1.53 60 ft on stocks is getting greedy as it is, lol

Exactly! You are one I was referring to, and you have that 60ft with a Quad Cab at that:rock: My personal best on factory shocks is a 1.81 60ft NA in a Quad Cab so we ain't too bad. I have personally used them on cars and they absolutely work, but imagine driving a sports car with soft shocks daily around corners, potholes, road imperfections, etc. I personally think they are made for drag cars/trucks only. Hell, there is a HemiQC running 12's on factory shocks and springs as well. He cuts low 1.6s as well.

i am just waiting for stinks shocks he is working on for our trucks :)

All the trucks out of our garage grip and go straight with great 60's and they all use qa1's but going fast is number 1 to them

You can make the ride whatever you want if your willing to get under the truck for 2 minutes and change the settings, mine rode better than stock, handled better than stock and definitely launched and hooked better than stock. I could also change the rears only for towing. There is no downfall to them except paying for them and taking the time to adjust them for each situation. The fastest nitrous only and fastest srt10 are both running them (Dom has coilovers in the back now obviously).

I had qa1's and could definetely tell a difference wih weight transfer but don't have solid track times to back it up. I did a couple other mods at he same time so I don't want to make the statement trust I gained 3 tenths..... But between hardened pushrods, roller rockers and the shocks that's what I gained if memory serves me correctly. I called qa1 and they gave me a recommendation on what setting to run On the street and thats what I ran. Couldn't tell a difference between those and the stockers at all! I forget here recommended setting but call them and see

Heres how I look at it,if your gpoing to run QA1's and pay the cash for them, chances are these, your going to run slicks/drag radials at the track so the shocks are right there wide open infront of you when you change the wheels back and fourth so changing the rears should be very easy and for the fronts im guessing if you turn the wheels tight left or right you should be able to get at them fairly easy too AND if your gonna pay that cash for them chances are your gonna take the time to adjust them on and off the street!
