Question? X-metal shifter

Anyone tried it? I'm going to do mine next time it's in at the shop.
Just curious to see if anyone has made their shifter quiet?

I just recently posted some stuff about this shifter. I had some issues with mine making noise. I had some issues with the pivot ball on my shifter "bottoming out" inside the shifter housing on the tranny. It was unbearibly loud. I actually ended up grinding down the pivot ball, the bottom of it so it doesnt bottom out anymore. That quieted it down a lot. After I did the "Begood" noise solution the rest of the noise was completly eliminated. Begood soultion is bullet proof if you aloow this stuff to dry for 2 days. Just keep in mind you will be without a vehicle for 2 days unless you leave the stock one in while this concoction is curing.

Pro's = it works
Cons = none, it works, do it!

Hi Begood (or anyone else), I have the pinch weld primer on and the urethane is about to go on. I will let it dry for a couple of days, maybe 3 to be extra safe but I have 1 question. You say to buy 2 new washers and file/trim them down so they don't ride on each other, that's simple enough but which side do/did you place the washer on? Head or nut side and do any of the washers get re-used or is it simply 2 washers for the entire job? Mine was put on at the RHD conversion shop so I'm not sure if they added washers or used the ones provided in the Boomer kit. But I have 2 plastic and 1 steel washer for each nut on mine. Last but not least, silly question perhaps but one I'd like to ask, could the OEM "U" bracket and rubber isolators? be used with the X-Metal as it's doing the same job or are the bolt holes different.

Thanks for your time.

Cheers,
Carl

Hi,

I tested my B&M shifter today. But it´s really noisy at 5500upm... :mad:
My english is not so good. So I don´t know what to do... :argh:

Is it possible to post pictures of Bill´s work?

It would really help me out!

I followed BeGoods "fix" showed him photos for confirmation and did everything to plan but my Gen-X still made the same amount of noise as before. But I said to BeGood that if it works, cool, if not, no worries. I guess some do, some don't but I for one don't enjoy the sound. However, I can live with it. :)
