Who's pushing your button when your gripping your stick???:dontknow: :D

The "engine start" button is a typical gimmick. 1 more crank of the key and you could start it.
It's corny as hell but still a bloody cool thing to push LOL.

No Carl. You will bend the key. I almost bend the damn key every time I go to start the truck.

 You misread the post my friend.;)

I mean it's 1 crank away from turning the engine over so the big red push button isn't really needed when you're that close to starting it in the first place. It's a gimmick. ;) A cool part of the truck though but still, corny.

LOL its soooo foolproof that my buddie who owned a qc srt10 and a few work dodge pickups all same years... he gets in the qc srt puts in the key and starts bitching at me that i killed his battery listining to music.. because the truck wont start... i have to remind him to push the red button LOL. he had owned the truck for 2 years at that point LOLOLOL... to funny..

Sorry, but read it right I just don't understand what you wrote. So what do you mean?

Not too sure what's hard to follow mate. :dontknow: You turn the key to accessories to be able to push the button and start the truck. In normal cars all you need to do is turn the key one more click and the engine starts, that's what I mean, 1 more turn and the engine would start. Because you have to use the key in the first place and go "90%" of the way to starting the truck, the push button is hardly needed. Very gimmicky but still cool to use. ;)

Ok I get it now. Thanks. I have a 50 Oldsmobile rocket 88. It came with the same type starter button as my truck. Turn key on and push button. I have a 56 buick that is a little different you turn the key on floor the gas pedal. That one gets alot people.lol

Jelms ---you may want to adjust the cable ---from what I have been told --the truck must be absolutly in park when you start it up ---if you rev it in park and the shifter cable is out of adjustment the the shifter valve in the trans will let fluid by-pass and can or will end up distroying you front clutch pack clutches-----check this out with a trans shop ----suncoast transmissions should be able to help you out......

Put your truck in neutral then start it.

I know I can put it in neutral to start it up, but I have a little bit of OCD and like to do things the way they should occur. Plus, it is a better story when I want to be in park:D Yes, I do have some issues, thanks for the reminder. Throws my world upside down starting in neutral....

Thanks for the warning Jim. I'll have it looked at next time I take her in.

hey, I think the button is not disabled when engine is running.
My wife accidentally pushed it since she usually stops my BMW with the button too, I could hear the starter spinning... I won't try it again.

I wish someone would come up with RFID for our trucks, this way we don't have to take the keys out of the pocket!

I don't think this is the case anymore, just about every new car out there is comming with a start button!:p

It's pretty much the norm now!:(
Think they would know to push this? :D

My wife's Prius has a button to start and stop it too. But it says "Power."

Another security point...for those of you that have the VEC II or VEC III...

Program a "No Start" card. Even with a key...the truck cannot be started until a program card is inserted into the card reader.
