Just a couple of quick fire questions (tried a search but unless I'm just too drunk tonight I couldn't find exactly what I was looking for) so, sorry if indeed this is a re-post. This is from an email I got from the seller:

Something else I was going to tell you, at my last oil change, they said that the next one would probaly have the diff fluid changed. Just FYI. Also, you probably already know, but these trucks require a "special" oil filter that finally now can be purchased through mopar. They used to use Wix filters, but Mopar now has the correct Viper filter for it.

I am looking to buy the "special" oil filter, does anyone have a part number please? My truck is a 2006 (If that makes any difference).
Also, what is the best or preferred diff oil/fluid to use? :dontknow:

Thanks,
Carl

I just switched to Royal Purple 5-W40 Synthetic oil and i put in a bottle of Lucas Synthetic Oil treatment/conditioner...prior to that i was using the 0-W40 Mobil One, which seemed fine, but after reading here that Royal Purple was better, i made the switch. :p

Thanks mate. :)

If anyone else has any preference or input please speak up.
I'll use Royal Purple thus far. Just need the oil filter part # and I can go shopping lol.

I may be drunk too...i forgot to answer your question about the diff fluid...i put in Mobil 1 Synthetic 75-90 fluid w/ a bottle of Mopar Friction modifier. As far as the part # for the filter, i dont know that, but sure someone does and will post.

+1 ... on the Diff Fluid

I used a K&N oil filter when I changed the oil...I believe the part # was HP2004

Wix makes a great oil filter too...the only place I know that sells it locally for me is O'Reillys. But I do not have a part # for ya.

Buy a dozen...the last time Chrysler made high flow/high capacity oil filters for the Vipers, they sold too many of them and stopped making them. Everyone was using them and so in their infinite wisdom DC stopped stocking and making them.

i just swapped to 15w50 and the valvetrain noise is gone. i love it!!! been using k&n filters too for quite a while. if it wasnt 60 miles to the nearest dodge dealer id go with the new viper filter.
