how much a pain in the a$$ is it to remove rear bumper cover ,,i know a dude who just drilled through it to get to bolt holes ,,,i not going to do that lol

It is not hard at all...i took mine off to bring to my body shop to have a small crack fixed. The side covers need to come off, take your time and they will come off no problem.

it's not hard at all like he said just take your time, i got the kit from jmb and just follow the instructions, and i dunno why dodge says our trucks can't tow anything, i've got stinker's 2" blocks in the rear and i used my truck to tow a 25' pontoon boat, power was NO problem and it didn't bottom out since our springs are so stiff

i'm one of those who drilled through the bumper cover, holes were covered by a washer and a countersunk bolt head..looked okay, but if i was to do it over again, would remove the cover, but at the time there was no DIY info on this. LOL:D when you remove the side skirts protect the paint by taping the panels.

there still is no DIY write up i looked :dontknow:

I'm doing this from memory so check all over for screws that I may miss describing to remove.
Unscrew the screws inside the rear fender that hold the bumper end caps on. I don't remember if there are any screws under the tailgate holding the end caps on so check there and on the bottom side of the bumper. There may be one there holding them together.
Once your sure all screws have been removed, pull the part closest to the tire out toward you and the push back to the rear. It is held on with velcro so some force may be needed.
Do the same to the other side.
Locate and remove all the screws holding the bumper cover on and then remove it.
Install hitch.
Remove hitch cutout on bumper and re-install everything in reverse order.
It really is pretty easy and there aren't that many screws.
While the bumper cover is off check and see if there is any rust forming on the steel.
If so, hit it with some Rustoleum.
It's harder getting the bolts down in the frame tube than removing the bumper cover.
Good luck.

James, are you using the Dodge hitch that is made for our trucks?
yup :D bought it from a member whos girlfrind demanded him to sell his truck
that betch
thanks silvr

They are by far the best one to use, no drilling at all, but they are a bitch to install, you actually have to loosen and lift the bed a couple inches to get the top bolts in but once you are finished you will like it.

yes i know bud i did the same for the 06 hemi truck i had that i gave my son ,,i just did not want to take it off for my 10 ,,im getting to old to put them on then take them off that is for the young goobers lol

I have the factory hitch. No issues and no lifting of bed needed. Removing the bumper cover is simple. As previously mentioned a good idea to tape above the side covers before removing...just in case the tabs come in contact with your paint as you lift upward.
