Anyone have experience with leaded fuel and O2 sensor life. I have deleted the cats, and would like to try a tune that needs 100 octane. Leaded race fuel is as cheap as pump gas for me. Unleaded high octane mixes are $32 for 6 gallons plus fuel cost. I would rather sacrifice O2 sensors if they even last a weekend.

Lead poisonous/wrecks cats and sensors pretty fast.
What do you hope to gain using 100 octane fuel?
If it's more power, unless your engine NEEDS the octane, it won't benefit from it.
Be very careful with a tune like that (ask me how I know).

Ronnie’s correct, unless your engine has higher compression (ie: different pistons, cam heads setup) then higher octane is a waste, especially if it has lead. Not much, if anything, to gain even with a tune on a stock engine. It clogs cats quick and even faster on sensors. Next thing you know your chasing ghost gremlins in the tune. Careful diagnostic monitoring for detonation while tuning for power is required to even see if higher octane will help. Of course people want to push the limits and get the most out of their ride but simply adding race gas and a tune isn’t worth a few ponies at the cost of sensors or more.
