radar detectors - which one & why ?

Radar detectors?

I am looking at purchasing a in dash radar detector so it won't be so visable- any opinions on the best for the buck?:burnout:

This is a good questions that I asked a little while ago and did not get a good response. I have a Valentine1 that has a remote output so I can see the arrows but there is not really a good place to hide the main unit without degrading the sensitivity. You will probably need to get one of those that mount in the grill and somewhere on the back of the truck to be totally hidden. I know they make jammers that way.

The sr7 + shifters is what I have, and I love it!!! I also have a V1 that I am going to install soon. (stole the idea from patric)

I love my V1 and I never leave home with out it. STAY FAR away from anything made by Rockey Mountian Radiar. I had one of their units start smoking while I was driving down the highway.

V1 is a good detector, I've been running a wireless Escort Solo 2 in the SRT and the GTS. Both have saved my ass several times. They're not as stealthy, however I have them tucked up at the top of the windshield so they are not AS visible.

Exactly.

I wired the main unit up through the "A" pillar, and mounted it next to the rear view mirror. The remote display is mounted in the lower left "nook" of the instrument panel. Works great.

FWIW, I wouldn't own any other radar detector.:rock:

i've read the different threads on what people have...... now i am polling for the one's most often mentioned & why.... remember, there's laser to deal with too, not just radar........

V1...dont bother with the rest

Install it, and be done with it...

I have both the passport and the V1 installed, and the V1 wins hands down! Hell, I dont even turn on the passport anymore.

gotta throw in another vote for the V1. Haven't tried the others, but then again I haven't had a reason to since I got the V1. It hasn't let me down yet.

V1 is my choice but with this, if you don't have one of these a radar isn't really all that useful. IMO

Gotta agree with what Patrick said.

I have had a V1 since 97 and comparing it to others it offers more protection.
I can always feel the local law love before it feels

V1 is probally the best Detector out there. The arrows and the bogey counter spoil you. Trust me I don't leave home with out mine.

I get to quote myself on this one This is a thread I started about a week ago and this is exactly why I say the V1. More than likely if I did not have a V1 I would of gotten a ticket on that day.

Was going down a road today and came up behind a yellow vette. He started to speed up and then my radar detector went off. He must of had a radar detector also because we both slowed down at the same time. My V1 showed that the the radar was coming from the front, and then I saw a cop come over the hill.

After the cop past us we both started to speed up until I look at the V1 and it still showed the radar coming from in front of us. I then slowed down and the vette just kept going. When we got over the hill there was a FHP (Florida hwy patrol) sitting on the side of the road with his radar on. Needless to say I think the vette did not have a V1 and just thought the radar was coming from behind him after the first cop past us.

I watched the FHP pull over the vette guy. He looked pi$$ off at me as I past him.

I love the V1 and the arrows on it:star: . If I had any other radar detector I would have been pulled over today.
