Escort 8500X50 is a great detector. Won detector of the year at somepoint here recently. Only drawback is that it doesnt have the directional arrows like the V1. But costs less and has from what i've seen, detection equal to and in some cases better than the V1. Check out youtube, there are lots of videos comparing the two. Sometime the V1 comes out on top, sometimes the escort, but worth taking a look at. There are also a lot of writeups comparing and contrasting the two performance wise all over the place if you google it. Mine has saved me a lot, luckily here the police dont really use laser that much, but stick to the Ka and K bands. It states K and Ka and those are the only two bands i've ever seen pop up on the detector. I should also state that you do get an occasional false reading from the detector (automatic doors etc) but its really not as bad as i've seen from most detectors and you can change settings and what not to try and avoid false readings..ill just err on the safe side.
Regarding the 9500, my friend has one in his viper and loves it. just depends how much cash you wanna spend.
