Is the V1 still regarded as the best radar detector by the majority of the member on here .... Seemed to be the one of choice the last time I posted....

How do you star a pole on this???

I had the passport 9500i GPS one (until someone decided the needed it more than i did) and i loved it. The thing never went off once i locked out all the false signals. Truly the quietest radar detector I have ever owned.

Once I tried the Valentine 1 and the directional arrows that point in the direction of the threat, I feel vulnerable using anything else. Plus the V1 has front and rear receivers that some other brands don't have. It has three different levels of detection to keep false alarms at a minimum. The bogey counter has really saved a bunch of folks because it shows how many threats are ahead and if you have one ahead and behind you the arrow blinks the highest threat. If I were going to buy another radar detector it would be another V1.

I know nothing about radar detectors, but is there something like the V1 that can be flush mounted into the dash or something so its not on the window?

I got one of the K40's in mine. The V1 the last I was following it was still good. That was a few years ago on a Vette forum. I also owned 2 Passports.
I like the K40 because it is an installed radar with a small control head that I mounted above my steering column.

Definitely the V1, heard good things about the installed K40, but for the price you can't beat the Valentine One. Had detectors since the Passport, V1 has been the best.

And if you want to get trick, you can buy this mount to permanently mount it to the rear view and then go to the DIY section to hard wire it.

New fully adjustable is awesome, love it!

I like the V1 and Beltronics XR. Both do the same job and both will save you cash. I ran both in the same vehicle for around 3 months, if anything, the Beltronic XR was quicker to react and had slightly better range. But, as I said, both work great. I agree with the V1s function of pointing in the direction of the alert, but when I hear any radar, I slow down, regardless of where it's coming from lol. Some radars are more hype and fancy commercials than anything else.

The arrows are definitely functional. Yes my first reaction on alert tone is to slow down but having the arrows pointing toward the threat sure saves a lot of head spinning trying to figure out where he is. In the rare event that you get tagged from two different directions, the arrows tell you which one is the stronger signal. I've gone back to my old Escort a time or two and it's fine in the family vehicle. But when I'm in the "10" or on vacation in the Jeep, the Valentine goes with me.

Never said they weren't. ;) I like both V1 and XR, I personally prefer the stronger signal over direction of threat. 2c

No, I know you didn't say they weren't functional. I was just re-emphasizing that they do help to those that may be considering one. :)

That's why they make different brands. People like different features of different models.

Didn't think so. I think your one of the biggest speed freaks on this site. :aetsch:

The V1 allows you to safely speed up when the threat has passed. That is the real benefit of the directional arrows. You know radar is ahead, it goes to the side when you pass and shows in the rear once you go by. Then you know you are in the clear to speed up. If you are in a hurry and need to avoid tickets, the V1 makes it so you can speed up as soon as possible and gets you where you are going. The signal strength is very strong also. I can't compare to others but I have had enough warning to slow down every time I had the V1 on and came upon a radar trap. One day it saved me twice in 5 minutes.

Wheres the best/cheaperst place to buy a V-1 from? I'll defiently be needing one and i would like time to do some more research before buying it....
