Rain or Wet Roads?

Hey there, still considering an 06 SRT-10 QC, have another question:

Did a search for how the truck does in the rain or on wet roads, got some info, but wanted some more. Living in Houston it rains often, so since this would be my daily driver, I was concerned about the wet weather handling. The rear of my 02 QC 4.7L would get loose easily when it rained (it had the stock 20's on it), how is the SRT-10?

I have narrowed my search to 3 trucks, 08 Hemi Mega Cab 4x4 Laramie Auto(Electric Blue), 06 SRT-10 QC Auto (mineral grey or black), or keep my current 06 CTD Mega Cab 4x4 SLT Manual (paid for!!). Can't make a decision, need help...... :dontknow:

I don't drive my R/C in the rain, manual/trans is a bitch on wet ground.
You should have no problem with an auto/trans. even in the snow.....
Funny, mines never seen a garden hose!

Taking off from a red light in the rain down town is next to impossible, any road around here that has that really smooth asfault is a BIT$% to drive on. I think the qc would handle alot better, more weight and the auto tranny.

havent had any problem with mine. even with the roe. just have to light foot it.

if you want a powerful, low production number, that's just goin' to put a smile on your face every time you drive it -- than an srt-10 is the only way to go.... you'll just have to decide if you prefer a manual or auto trans.....

Just like driving any pick up with a posi traction rear, just be careful. Have driven mine in heavy rain even lite snow, no problems.
Mine is an R/C not a tow truck.

You want have much problems with the QC if you can drive that is i have driven mine through rain & snow without any problems.

The QC should be no problem. I drive mine daily and have been in rain, sleet, and snow with no problems. As long as you are not sticking your foot in it when it is wet, you will not have any problems. Respect the HP and drive it a little more carefully in the rain.

p.s. - I have a Viper, so I am aware of how to use my right foot cautiously...... :rock:

Actually, I bought the Viper in South Carolina and drove it all the way back to Houston with it raining almost the whole way. I'm guessing the QC Auto would be easier to handle in the rain versus a 6 speed Viper, but wanted to confirm given some of the information in the other posts I read.

My QC is a daily driver, and in the summers in Florida it rains nearly every afternoon. I haven't had any problems, but it will get loose if you let it. (Sometimes I let it!)

No problems with mine in the rain unless I purposely want to have some fun. One day in the rain I pushed it a little too hard and hydro planed across two lanes. Tires caught just before hitting the curb. Lots-o-fun!!!

I have never driven mine in the rain. But, I did drive a couple of miles on almost wet roads. I fishtailed it all the way. Even with a little throttle. All I can say is the tires suck on wet roads.

rain is no problem if the QC, plenty of grip till you flick the gas pedal!

I haven't even received my truck yet (06 RC NR) but I'm not too concerned. Just like any high hp application you have to drive to conditions. It'll just take a little practise to get to know the truck and as others have said, a non heavy foot. Feather feet. My 0.02c

Amazes me how much traction my 06 RC NR has in the rain but I wouldn't drive it on a bet in snow. Owned a 01 v10 2500 QC posi rear. All over the road in ice and snow until I put 500 pounds of weight over the rear axle. That brought the weight up to 6500 LBs. Put some weight in the back and stay off the peddle and it will work. bobby mac AKA the rambler

Lots Of horsepower. But The qc also weighs 5700lbs which evens it out kinda. But remember its got hella TORQUE as well. Just Baby it much as you can.

Carlwalski, Nice wheels, What number you got on your NR. Heard of 382 So far. Mine is 190. Took it out in the rain to learn how to control it. Be prepared to hit the rev limiter a few times. Did that on dry pavement on a burn out. Scared the shit out of me. My so called HEMI owner Friends told me I should have banged it into second and kept the smoke show going. Screw them. Really don't care how many are out there. These SRT 10 trucks are a rare breed. Chrysler made them for ass holes like me to beat the shit out of. As I have said before -- Get on it when the road is open in front of you, die by yourself, don't take anyone with you. bobby mac AKA the rambler

take the pirelli's and trash them, get some better tires. you shouldnt have a prob if you respect the hp...
