Hi Everyone,

After many, many years, a company has finally been able to bring the Viper community a flash programmer that allows you to change the tune in your stock PCM without sending the PCM anywhere or having to add an in series programmer like the VEC3.

SCT is a Florida based company about two hours from us. We've been waiting and watching as development of their programmer progressed. I'm happy to say that we were able to get hold of a few of the first programmers and spent time on the dyno perfecting tunes the last two days on Viper SRT-10's.

We now have programmers in stock for 2003-2006 Viper SRT-10's. The programs we created are for 91 and 93 octane and are to be used on stock vehicles or those with cat-back exhausts and high flow air filters. Programs for headers will come soon.

We at Roe Racing are very excited about the potential this system offers and readily endorse SCT as a provider of quality electronic components.

Now we need to get the Ram SRT-10's on the dyno and fine tune the programs we've made for them. We're looking for a stock regular cab and quad cab (stock as in a high flow air filter or cold air intake and a cat-back exhaust), a quad cab with the above and headers, then a quad cab with one of our Supercharger kits. We're calling a couple local guys with regular cabs that have headers and or blowers, so we should have that application covered and only need the ones I mentioned first.
Those that can help will be able to buy the SCT controller at $100 off ($499) if they want it.

Email me if you're interested at [email protected]

Best Regards,
Sean

can i use one unit to program both of my trucks?

If it's like the other SCT products, no. You can only use it on one vehicle (it stores the stock (original) program in the system so you can load it later). You have a RC and a QC, right? That wouldn't work anyway, as I'm sure they are 2 different programs.

I had a SCT XCal2 for my F-250 6.0 Diesel, and it gave me 125 extra HP to the wheels! They make GREAT products.

I have an '06 RC with a magnaflow catback and JMB CAI. While I'm too far away to come down for dyno testing, I just have a quick question. I was planning on purchasing a PCM upgrade in the near future. I would be purchasing a replacement PCM in case I needed to take my truck in for service under warranty and would need to switch it back to the factory unit. Am I understanding you correctly? Could this unit be used to flash my OEM unit for performance as good as an upgraded PCM, then reflashed when I would go in to warranty work back to factory standards, and finally upgraded again once my truck is back in my garage? Very interesting if that's all true.. or maybe I just don't have a clue.

That's the way it works with all the other XCal2 programmers (SCT).... I wouldn't think this one would be any different. Although, I don't know too much about the new "Livewire" unit from SCT.......

:dontknow:

Sounds like a deal to me!!!:)
Although 35-40 H.P. sounds a little more realistic on a stock motor..
( Paxton with Shorties) Can you use my truck????:dontknow: :dontknow:

What would be the disadvantage of using this unit instead of purchasing an upgraded, flashed PCM from another vendor? I was looking at about $950 before...

hell, I'm on my way! 05 RC with magnaflow and K&N, in Tampa. tell me where to meet you!

Sean, I should be at your place Monday or Tuesday. I'm still waiting for the pulley to be finished.

Hi Everyone,
Sorry for the delay in responding, but it looks like a few guys know what the SCT and other flash programmers are about and answered the questions correctly.
Here's how it basically works:
1. SCT provides a blank programmer and stock program.
2. The tuner writes up to three custom programs into the flash device. These programs have to be created and tested by the tuner (that's why we need the trucks here for dyno time).
3. The user gets the flash device and plugs it into their OBD2 port under the dash. The flash device then uploads the program the user selects (from the options loaded into the device).
4. Done.
If you want to put the stock calibration back in it, it's the same process. This is the same as a flash, but far better because you don't have to send it anywhere and have options to load in.
SCT just released the system and plans the same type of functionality as the Ford units (allowing user adjustments from the custom programs loaded).
As far as gains go, whether you use a perfectly tuned PCM flash, a VEC3, AEM or SCT flash programmer, as long as the ideal air / fuel and ignition advance curves are delivered to the engine, the power will be the same. The engine doesn't care which device gave it those curves. The most important part is getting the curves correct.
Gains on the truck will be much higher than the car. The trucks use a lower timing advance curve and pull out a lot more ignition timing relative to intake air temperatures.
I'll let you all know what we find as we go along with the tuning verification. We fortunately have a lot of VEC tuning experience to draw from.
I'll get back on here Monday morning to see if there are any other questions. Going to enjoy the rest of my Sunday now :)
Regards,
Sean
PS, Green Cove Springs is about 30 minutes south of Jacksonville.
We also have some other items coming out soon.... :)

Sean, I purchased the B&G StageII flash with the selling point of cooler engine temps. I installed the pcm and 170 thermostat. I noticed significant midrange power increase but the temps still run 200 to 210 unless cruising down the interstate. Will this programmer address the cooling fan duty cycle so as to turn the fan on sooner? Thanks.

Some folks were asking what the actual SCT XCal2 looked like.... Here's a pic.

Yeah, you guys get a good tune and change a few parameters and you'll be amazed at the difference.
