The truck tranny is acutally stronger than the car tranny, that being said there is a TON of upgrades you can do... I spent a butt load on parts and love the feel of my tranny.

Also look up micronite coatings for all of you parts...

sweet guys thanks.. i think eveyrhtings going to go threw with getting a new motor and i just gonna do the tranny at the same time.. so i'll have new motor and new tranny.. i'll also begoing threw the rear end checking everything out.....

One of the companys that modifies the T-56 is Six Speeds Inc. they can do a lot with them and there prices are not ridiculous. Google it.

This is interesting. Everybody is talking about beefing up the auto tranny to hold anything more than 650 flywheel HP. Nobody that I can recall has said anything about the RC 6 Speed factory power ratings. This web site claims that for a $2000 rebuild (Core supplied) the T56 6 speed can be rebuilt with their parts to handle 700 RWHP and 700 Rear wheel torque. Here are the specs for this rebuild:

All this info leads me to ask what our stock 6 speeds are rated for?

I had to rebuild my T-56. Get rid of the cheap plastic pads on each fork and get the bronze ones. I got mine from Six Speeds Inc. I had some problems getting my parts from them, it took about 3 months but after hounding them enough I recieved them. I bought one of the big rebuild packages, but its not necessary unless your tranny has some wear in it. The seals and retaining clips are nice to have though.

i dont think the hole thing needs a rebuild but..like i said since i believe my new motor is going to get put it..i want to get the tranny done..just because of the trucks track record of having alot of junk break on it....my main problem is with reverse i feel like im having to lift 150 pounds to get the darn thing in there its so stiff....an also when im slaming gears....ill try to hit third an i end up in in unknown land some where inbetween 3rd an 5th...i can let the clutch out an it is like its in neutrel but..its really inbetween 3rd an 5th lol its really weird...an thanks for all the imput ..an comments

As far as strength of the tranny itself the can handle alot of power, it might be the added weight of the truck versus the car, but there are plenty of guys rolling around with well over 700rwhp on stock trannies. Upgrade it for more speed in the shifts and better feel. and if you dont have a short throw you need to get one

your tranny problems may have more to do with your stock shifter & stock master/slave cylinders.....:D
a search of the forum has covered these areas a bunch of times.....
taking care of those parts fixed all the same issues on my truck. :burnout:

i'v got the B&M.. idk i just want it rebuilt for the safeof mind feeling....if ya know what i mean

do you have the stock master/slave cylinders ??

very problematic on the rc's...... no reason to spend money on a tranny rebuild if ya don't need it.....:dontknow:

I apologize for bringing this back from the dead but.. Six Speeds Inc. went
under a while ago and i was wondering where i might be able to buy bronze
fork pads and some new syncros..

Andrew

Thanks for the info FATJACK  I'll be contacting them shortly for some
quotes on parts.. I really don't need a fully built transmission at the moment
but i think i will indefintely have to replace the syncros and i might as well
upgrade the pads while it's out.. But thanks for the offer 505!

Andrew
