Does removing the rear hitch effect the truck any? Seems like it would help as a stiffiner. Will never use it and trying to take off some extra weight so just wondering does it hurt to remove it.

No sir, do it! Although its good weight as its over the rear axle, replace it with weight like a battery ;-)

just take the actual receiver off and leave the factory bar... yeah it's a little bit of weight, but it's at the very back - good for weight transfer...

Weight transfer is based more on suspension and it doing its job to transfer weight. Static placement of weight is only a little part of the equation ;-)
