The real deal at the time was this 1000 Hurricane! 1987-1991

These made about 130 Crank h.p.(121 at the wheel) However, they were also 515 lbs. "DRY"! Top speed on these was 156. (Some Rag's say slower)

I was out on a crisp Sunday a.m. run. Out here in AZ, we have smooth, wide highways and high speeds can be easily reached. I was on a ramp from the 202 south to the 60 east. I was merging on with a clear view down below. As I merged, two bikes were rolling east comming up behind me. One was a Harley bagger and the other was the Honda pictured above. The rider on the Honda started to pull up on me. Well good 'ol King Kong was rollin'. I dropped the rig into 4th. from 6th. at about 90 mph. and let all the power under peak (Torque) do the work! I could not believe it as I started to pull the guy! He tucked lower as I watched him drop 2 gears to keep up. By then I had grabbed 5th. and was doing over 120 mph and movin'!! Between 130 and 140 he just gave up because he was loosing ground. I don't think (Being a 20 year sportbike rider myself) he was ready for what the RC was capable of. Maybe he did not even realize it was a "10". I figure he just got caught with his pants down and was out of the 'ol Hurricane's powerband. I know it was the bike pictured above, due to the large, vertical scoops on each side of the headlight, integrated front turn signals and it was 1000 silver. I figure it was just an old tired bike or the rider was just too scared to push it.

IMHO, a modern sportbike should easily out run a 10. However, an older bike like this with a rider caught off guard can turn into a great story! I feel it is a testament to the exceptional excelleration these trucks have and it IS a ton of fun!!!
