mine did the same thing when i first got it... i went to leave work and no reverse... it would slide over where it was at but it just wouldnt go in... took the stealership, took a month and a half to get it fixed... on there first attempt reverse work but it was grinding going in 3rd and 4th... so they had to try again... finally got it right...

I'm scared now! Warrenty just expired 2weeks ago, and only has 30,000km on it. The T56 manual says it should be a seized back up switch. Month and a half my a.., I'll do the work myself, just so I can comfort her every night.

All other gears appear to be fine, once reverse crapped out, I limped her home, 1st four gears anyway.

I don't know if this will help you or not, but i had a 97 ram sport. and my tranny went kablooy on me and at 37K miles so my factory warrenty was gone. I took it to the local stealership and they replaced the whole tranny, and I only had to pay half the price, and Dodge "took care" of the other half. So they might still cover it since its soo close to warrenty. Worth a shot.

Once before it wouldn't go in. But I moved ahead 5 feet, and it slid in. Drove for three weeks with now problems after that. The day this happened, I backed out of my driveway, and when I went to shift out of reverse, and It was tight, not extreamly tight, but not normal. Went down town for lunch. When I went to leave the restrant, It wouldn't go in. With much shame, I pushed her out of the stall, and drove it home again.

Hmmm, not what I thought. My truck wouldn't go into reverse or any gear. Turns out my hydraulic clutch hose was leaking. First it was reverse, then all gears went when all the clutch fluid leaked out. No gear engagement and the clutch pedal was dead/no pressure aka floppy. Luckily for me it decided to dump itself overnight, just couldn't shift the truck and had to tow it to a local shop, which was close = phew! Don't want people seeing a SRT/10 ram towed lol To be fair, it's not factory fault, was done by the RHD conversion shop as they had to extend the hose and join it twice. Anyhow, best of luck, seems like a dealer or service shop is your only hope. Keep us posted.

Cheers,
Carl

you don't have a skip shift elimantor on there do you? If not it is more than likely the reverse lock out selinoid s/p? Easy to do self install.

Mine did this off and on for about a month, I upgraded the master cyclinder and all has been well for over a year now.

I have removed the reverse lockout soleniod. The plunger seems to move freely. I guess It should probably be bench tested, just to be sure. Could not locate a skip shift soleniod. Traced power source to 4x o2 sensers, Reverse lockout soleniod, and back up lamp switch. The fuze for the power adjust pedals, clicks when I try and engage reverse. Swapped that out. No help (performed a bench test, soleniod moves free wile powered) Plunger is out approx., 1/4" or so, while removed.

Heres a place that specializes in the T56 six speeds inc. 888-937-4411, when you click on the link it will say page not found but you will be redirected to there new website. Good info on our Transmissions if you still have the T 56
http://sixspeedsinc.com/
They just set a record with the T56 1st 8 sec LS1. Thy know what they are doin I haven't had to use them yet, thank God but you always have to be ready, plus they are probabally cheaper than dealer.

Put a multimeter on her today, power is reaching solenoid. Removed the reverse lockout assembly, and all seems to move free.

Mine started doing that as well just before the clutch master/slave went bye bye. Did you check the hydralic fluid in the reservoir. If fluid is low your slave might be gone. I drove my truck for about a week before it totally gave out and started leaking.
