ok heres the question how much footp0ounds tq does a rod bearing take?....45fptq?......anyway i got moy motor put back together...tq'd everything to what the dodge dealer ship said to....an they told me to tq the rod bearing to 95fptq....now im not the brightest crayon in the box but that sounded more like the tq for a main cap......so i tq'd it to what they said to...an i started the truck ran fine for about 30 to 45 min just idleing...took it down the road....an it started taping..an got louder and got louder and louder so i think i starved the bearing of oil an it pretty much screwd it up real good....so whats the tq thats sopose to go on this thing?

50 fptq according to the manual. Using a stretch gauge is your best bet for rod bolts. The amount of stretch will be according to the bolt manufacturer, .006 - .008 is the usual range.

connecting rod bolts should be oiled prior to installing and torq'd to 50 ftlbs

i did oil it..but over tq'd it so im guessing thats my problem now.....im really tired of messing with it...but there is no place local that i trust with dealing with our motors.....an if there was id take the motor out again...an send them the block

I don't know of a good place local either. Theres a place here in Killeen called sunshine performance I hear is good, but I don't know how much expeience they have with this motor. I'll call tomorrow and see what they say (if they're open)
It's the place Justin had his truck dynoed... you can call him and see if he knows more:dontknow:

The over torquing of the bolts would cause a bolt to stretch and break.

The noise you are hearing is probably not related to over torquing the rod bolts.

I would have no one else but Kevin Singleton (Exotic Engine Development) do a Viper motor.

He knows more about them than anyone on the planet.......

by over torquing you probably stretched the bolt farther than normal, and made them stretch under load easier. sorry to hear this some dealers are dumber than stinker
