Roll bar solution is here!

I would be really suprised if it was ever NHRA approved with those clamps and low door bars.

If, if it is NHRA approved...it is a great product...it NHRA does not approve it, I would not spend a dime on it.

Looks nice, but I would question those pinned joints also. Heck, for $2500 I've got a tubing bender and a welder. ;)

The drag style cage at the bottom of the page has higher door bars. I think swing out door bars are OK for IHRA and NHRA, I'll check the rulebook when I get home.

Yes, swing-out doors are acceptable for NHRA approved installations. I have them on an 8.5 second certified/approved chassis.

The bigger question (all of these other issues aside), is will it fit/work in the truck.;)

My biggest gripe with a cage in our trucks, and why I will never have one, is that it would have to exit the back of the cab through the window and tie into the frame through the bed.

Why not sort of redo the back window. Where the rollbar would exit the cab, make solid metal (same color of truck), then have a smaller rear window (width wise)?

Maybe someone could photochop? Would only be talking 8 inches or so per side. Maybe I will mess around when I get home.

OR there is always Plexi....

For me that crosses the line into a strip only vehicle. I'd lose use of the back seat, door bars are a pain, and I want it to look stock on the street. There is more to it being NHRA certified than two bars exiting the cab, there would be other crossbars or triangulation needed.

If I could keep it all inside I'd be more willing to consider it, also keep a useful back seat. I may put a hoop in it for a little added safety but that's it.

I think overall this is better then nothing. If I ever did roll it I would be happy I had it. The looks are also very good. The biggest promblem some have is that they freak as do I about welding it to the frame or being able to remove it if you had to or wanted to. I think this is perfect for a "driver car" that you race every now and then, for a strict race car I would get a welded cage. As far as going thru the back window, well I'm sure it would look and be fine. plexiglass with a nice tint

A roll cage with no helmet is alot more dangerous than no cage at all in most cases. Even stick on padding can only do so much to keep your head from bashing metal.

yeah thats true, but with the cage in place it is very simple to add in a 5 point seat harness. All in all, a cage is meant for protection when you are in engaging in a activity that can lead to a loss of control...i.e. dom & his 950hp truck:D

Exactly, too many people think a cage is more safe than without one, but with standard belts and no padding, they are very deadly.

Justin so you think that maybe this might be an ideal application for our trucks? have all the brackets in place and once you get to the track bolt on the slicks, assemble the roll cage, and we are good to go for 11's:)
