SE GTG Lovebug update....

really imagine 650 miles of bug stains ...ok anthony can run the front door lol
 
For those that don't already know, If you leave dead Love Bugs on your vehicle for any length of time, their guts eat into your paint. Nasty lil SOBs.

i was told they have a high acidic level in thier guts ,,something about its thier natural defense to keep the preditors away,if birds eat them it screws them up on the insides :puke: ,i guess that include cars and trucks lol

EXACTLY! That's why I have always washed mine before dark every day when they are out. I go to work at 8am and work until 8am the next morning so they are usually not out that early.
 
And I've also heard for years that lovebugs were an experiment gone bad at the University of Florida. But have since learned that to be BS. Usually around here during hurricane season.

i heard they are actually some kind of worm that every 3 or 4 years they come out to mate ,and grow wings,,,kind of like the big locus bug you hear buzzing in trees ,,,but that could be an old wives tail ,,but i only see them every 3 or 4 years :dontknow:
 
Back in college I drove from Gainesville FL to West Palm beach, then back again to Gainesville. I was trading my 93 mustang in the following day. When I got back, you couldnt tell the car was black or even see out the windshield where the wipers wouldnt hit.
I feel sorry for the guy that had to detail that car before it got put out on the lot.
Since then, I get them off as soon as possible. I have tried the Rain_X stuff and seems to work pretty good. I just wouldnt leave it on long.
And yes they WILL and do damage the paint if left on. My wifes PT Looser is proof.

I use baby oil on my dirt track car to make washing it up easier. I think it would work for this.

Yeah, that's my baby. It wasn't as bad as you think to remove. I aquired those on my home from Wesley Chappel (Tampa/Clearwater) last year. I stopped by a pressure washer carwash on my home and got the bulk of them off. Careful, I managed to mess up my condenser with the pressure washer trying to get those biches off. Those little buggers made their way to the firewall and intake via the opening in the hood. They adhered to ANY FRONT FACING SURFACE. They even found the spokes of my wheels and the backs of my fenderwells. While I was in FL, I went through a bottle or two of instant detailer and a pack or two of micro-fiber towels. I couldn't bear the site of Dennis taking a dryer sheet to the front of his yellow beast. . . I was a big ol' 'gina. :eek: :D
 
They are horrible right now. I stopped driving my truck as much as possible while these fuggers are out. They are no joke! :mad:

Where can we wash the rigs when we get there on Weds.? I'm not going to spend a lot of time on the exterior before we leave.

I'm sure somewhere near the condos. I do know that there is a place behind the pits at the track where you wash them off there if needed.
 
I will be bringing the detail equipment.
