shifting points on 05 QC

thanks, but do i drive it into 3rd gear then disconnect the cable, or will it automatically go into 3rd with tow/haul disabled? I never been on a dyno with a truck or a automatic tranny so iiunno. And when i talked to the shop they said they never had a QC on the dyno, which was a slight concern if it will fit on it or not. So i would imagine they dont know about the tranny and all that crap.

Where are you going to dyno at

I've had my truck on dyno with a bunch of pulls! Nothing needs to be disconnected!!! If the guy on the dyno doesn't know, then don't put your truck on his dyno unless you want to rebuild the engine or tranny or both!! Your truck , your call!!

Usually they will actually "drive" the truck during the session. The truck will go thru the gears as normal.....1st......2nd.....3rd..then mash the gas about 1500 rpm and let off just before your rev limit setting. If it's an inground unit it doesn't really matter. If it's a unit that runs off the back of a lift then it depends on the lift size. The best are usually in ground (dedicated bay) dynos where you basically line up the rear tires on a roller in the ground. The other your truck is lifted in the air by a normal shop lift then back onto a roller box type dyno.:burnout:

That is not correct! If your TV cable is still connected during a run, you will get 1st gear..... 2nd gear..... 3rd gear.. then WOT but when you did this at 1500-2000 rpms your truck will DOWNSHIFT TO 2nd OR MORE LIKELY 1ST:eek: and surprise the shit outta the dyno and operator as the truck tries to leap from the roller:burnout::s:

Campbell automotive has a chassis dyno too and they claim they can tune also:dontknow:

I msged torrie and he informs me the stock limit is 5700 and he set my rev limit to 6100rpm. Not sure about about 1st and 2nd gear cuz i cant get traction on the streets since the temps are still cool, but 3rd is at 5600, 4th is at 5450.

As for the dyno, like i said, i dont know for sure that the guy knows what he is doing or not...he might not, might not. They just moved to a different location so iiunno if they r still using there same dyno, i would think so which is a lifted dyno. The dyno i went on at the dealership was a ground dyno, he didnt disconnect or do anything to my truck and never got proper results, iiunno if it was him or my truck since nothing was disconnected. But im thinking its him since he said "the dyno wont get a proper reading because you need taller gears"....wtf does your gears have to do...so basically if i dont put a 4.56 in i cant get dynoed? yea right buddy.

Not true. It's a good idea to disonnect the TV cable

What he said ^^^^^^^^^

ok so whats the proper way? "drive" on the dyno, go through 1st, 2nd and get to 3rd then disconnect the cable while its rolling in third and press the tow/haul button?

No, disconnect the cable before you start the pull and then just go through the gears and mash it in third ( I think u wanna be above 60 mph when u mash it, but i could be wrong on that one).

if you remove the tv cable how is the truck suppose to shift, my understanding is thats what basically controls the transmission to shift...unless im out to lunch on this..lol (which wouldnt surprise me)

Hi guys-
If you are doing a w.o.t. pull to determine peak torque and peak horsepower (like most guys want to know), you don't have to disconnect anything. Just take it high enough in r.p.m. in third before you nail it so it can't downshift. I've done it a hundred+ times on the Dyno Dynamics dyno we use. You can disconnect if you want but as long as you are high enough in speed before you floor it, it won't downshift.

It's a bit of a stress test for a performance converter if you leave the T/H off but so far they've held up just fine.

If you want to do some pulls at part-throttle (say with a loading dyno for a "mileage tune"), you can check various things. But even then, we've never disconnected anything. Again, don't open the throttle enough to cause it to kick down..if it does kickdown part-throttle, it isn't a big deal. At FULL throttle it can become a problem and squirm around a bit and stress the straps and anyone standing nearby.. :)

I just came back from doing a test run on mine and my 1/2nd gears shift right around 5400-5500 rpm.... I tried launching at 1800 rpm and i just roasted the tires every, had to feather it and get going before I could get on it! I'm really glad i bought those dr's now!

well ill get them to try it without disconnecting the cable but if she kicks down ill tell them to disconnect it. Wish i could do my oil change prior to the dyno but i wont be able to do it until the 15th...im abit over due..lol.

the tv cable also controls the hyd pressure on you clutch packs and the fastest way to burn up a trans is drive with that cable disconnected

W O W !!! IF THE GUY RUNNING THE DYNO HAS TO DISCONECT YOUR TV CABLE!! R U N !!! I dont know who you guys let dyno your trucks, but there is no need to disconect anything if the dyno guy knows what he is doing!!!

So you guys that disconect your TV cable(santeen,venomous1)do you disconect it before you run it down the track too???? OMG!!!! If my truck was on the dyno and that happened, it downshifted the guy running the dyno would have a bloody nose!!,but I dont have to worry about that because I wont take my truck to just "a dyno guy" !!

Joe what are trying to say? you for disconnecting or not:p

ok people calm down. Ok, lets just go with no disconnecting the cable. what speed/rpm in 3rd gear do i need to be at so it wont down shift?
