Well I got a box earlier in the week with some nice shiny new side pipes for the Cobra.

Didn't have to go into work today, so I got the chance to put them on.

They have a much deeper sound to them than the stock pipes. Normal driving they are okay, but step into it and they are much louder. ;) :D

Supposed to pick up 40 to 50 HP with them, so this should be me real close to the 600 RWHP range.:)

The pictures kind of suck since it's cloudy here. Image that, a cloudy day in the festering shit hole.;)

Those are nice and shiny. So what is so different about them that they make 50hp more than the others?

The stock pipes have a 2.5 inch spiral core that is pretty restrictive. The new ones are a 3.0 inch straight through pipe.

Between milling off the air horns on the carb's and this change, it's a new beast.:)

I never saw street tires like that before. Whats the tread look like?

These are actually GoodYear race tires, not DOT approved. Sticky as hell when they get warm. In fact these are bias ply tires.

Here's a picture of the tread.

Hey John is that an original or kit cobra?

Neither.;)

There are actually three classifications of Cobra's.

Original. No explaination necessary there.

Replicas. That is what I have. Replicas are factory built cars that come complete minus the motor and transmission, same as the originals. That is how they get around the DOT requirments. The most common on these are Kirkham, Superformance (mine :) ), and the Shelby continuation series, which happen to be built by the same company as the Superformance

Kit Cars. These are cars that your order the components and assemble the car yourself or have someone else do it for you. Probably the best is ERA, and the most popular is Factory Five.

To be truthful, I would not want an original. Worth to damn much to drive, and I plan on driving mine. Put 7,000+ miles on it last year, and plan on topping that this year.

i would like to offer an apology.

there is nothing "kit" about your Cobra Silver. it is a true reproduction of a badass car, with Mr. Carroll Shelby's blessins.

yes i pulled my head out of my butt & went to their web site. very impressive. hell it might be a bit better than the original.

very beautiful ride Silver. :burnout: :congrats:  :burnout: :congrats:

is it faster/quicker than the truck??? or are they a fun handful to drive????

Much faster than a stock truck. Car weighs 2500 to 2600 pounds, and mine is right at 600 RWHP.

These cars are just like their namesake. They can kill you in a heartbeat if you are not careful.

And no appology is necessary. Most people do not even know what it is, more less what it's not.

Hell, Mikey still thinks it's a Miata.:D
