Top nut on front shocks frozen, turns the whole shaft of stud, I have a nut cracker to remove it but wondering if I will be able to torque properly when re-installed? ? Was searching for new shocks using 5114489AB part number but even the Bilstein site doesn't show them as available. I saw them on the viperstore site but the price is crazy for a stock shock. All the other sites show hemi truck shocks or nothing at all for our trucks Any other ideas

Just got off the phone with bilstein and they say that the shock was made only for dodge, no extra inventory, no after market replacement ever made. He said that the tech dept can rebuild some models but i didn't call them yet, maybe I can save this. I always seem to pick the winners when it comes to vehicles with low parts availability
1. 1989 Suzuki Swift GTi
2. 1966 Dodge Charger
3. 2005 Dodge Ram SRT10
Maybe this means that I'm on track for a Countach or Pantera next...........

Dealer can't get shocks, oriellys is trying to sell me HD Rancho shocks, is there any way to compare one shock to another? ??

budget is over, JTSVP custom billet isn't possible

QA site shows 7 shocks for 05 ram 1500, how do you know what will work right

plus i hear that now that i'm lowering the truck i will need even more different shocks…...:fight:

if i keep turning the stud end will it eventually come out of the shock so i can at least remove the damn things or will it sit there and spin forever???

Spin forever. Impact or blue tip wrench, rocket back-and-forth when hitting the trigger

I found brand new Bilstein with correct part number a year ago by googling Bilstein and part number and for sale. Can't remember what they cost but I think I saved $300. Truck rides like new

I have custom ridetechs. I love them. Better than the QA1's i had. And they have lifetime warranty. 175 a piece for the adjustable ones. Call them and they will tell you how to measure for them .

after spending the day soaking, using the nut cracker (which didn't work this time) buying a tool built just for this job (that didn't fit over the stud or the hold down nut), heating with a torch several times i happened to put the socket back on it out of pure frustration and VIOLA!!!! they both came off as easy as pie
WTF!!!!!!!:chain:

anyway, now i only have to buy new nuts, i love nuts……….. oh wait…….. that didn't come out right…………..:D

This is what I can tell the guys with the HD's. These motorcycles only come with two torque settings. The fastener will not come out no matter how hard you try or falls off on the road while riding.

Just don't over torque your nuts..1.) they can tend to snap and 2.) your wife won't like it either..;)
